I figured, since I'm going to be 21 soon, it's time for a new Lhune.She's been haunting my brains for months and I've been doing various sketches which never got finished or didn't feel right, but today I sat down, started sketching and somehow everything fell into place. The back fins are obviously new, I'm not 100% sure about them, but every time I pictured her she was missing something to express herself with, or to use for display, so that's where they came in. They're very much like feathers, just made of flesh and membrane (I'll probably move them around and see what works). She still has her little ears, they're just not very well visible. Her markings are mostly oryx-inspired, it seems to work for her.

I would love to see an aggressive/defensive dynamic piece with her, she looks so complacent all the time & I think one pic of her looking intimidating would fit into your collection of Lhune depictions. What do you think?

Oh I definitely agree with you. These serve more as quick references though. I don't allow myself the time to do a full-out piece of Lhune inbetween commissions much, although I suppose I could do some sketches of her in a more dynamic position (I do sketches of facial expressions but never dynamic pieces much). Thanks for the suggestion!

THOUGHT! What if you gave her a dark saddle which rounded down her shoulders where the appendages are and pull it up along her back? Maybe that's what could be done to balance her out? Otherwise, she's looking quite fancy <3

Hmm, interesting suggestion, thanks :3. I'll definitely play around with their form and position. It's a whole new feature after all so it probably needs a few tweaks to be right xD.

Interesting concept, Lhune. The new design is quite unique and attractive, but it seems like she's missing something...not sure what...it could be the head...or it could just be me.
You turning 21 made me think; when you were fourteen, did you ever think yourself being twenty-one? I've thought about it, and growing up does not seem to be so concerning to me anymore because I know that being older gives you benefits, such as responsibility, making your own choices, dealing with the trials...I'm not sure how to say it, but it makes me feel, forgive me, powerful. Being in power of yourself and your own mind is something special when you're younger. When you have protective parents (not a bad thing) it is a rare occasion, a rare occasion that I love.
I'm a ranter sometimes. Sorry about the read, but spilling your brains is a good way to wind-down.

Nope, I didn't. I don't look forward too much, and I don't plan too much in my life. I only roughly know where I want to be going and I slowly work my way towards it. I've found that this way of living has saved me from a lot of stress and a lot of disappointments. I simply live by the day and enjoy everything as much as I can.
I did think about life a lot when I was younger, and I always wondered if I was alone in my "responsible", "intelligent" thinking. Turned out I wasn't, and that it's really a phase a lot of people go through. It's not age or your intellect much that makes you feel powerful (or it shouldn't), it's simply experience. The more you have happening to you, the more you are able to put all those things into perspective and learn from them throughout your life. If you have very protective parents, then you very likely won't have very much happen to you to learn from.

Haha, I think you could wait forever then ^^. I don't think I'll ever have an absolute "final" design for her, but that's fine! I don't look the same through my entire life either, so when people draw me gift art of a certain version of Lhune, and I look back at it later, it's like looking back at an old photograph of myself

Every iteration of Lhune is beautiful. Every time you make a change, it's entirely organic and just feels right. I envy that skill.

The fins do seem a bit abrupt. Maybe the pattern is a little more complex than the rest of her body? What with the three white stripes.

Oooh, that looks really interesting. ^.=.^ I like the simplicity of it and yet its originality. Also, from reading back a few comments, the idea of using those feather-like objects as a way to show a defensive pose or agressive pose is very interesting and I think should be expanded upon.

Oooooh new lhune
I love how she is constantly evolving with you. I makes me want to redsign everything all the time haha. I like the fins, but I think maybe if you carried the main body colour up into them a little at the base they may read a bit better. Another suggestion may to also make them slightly shorter? I'm not sure what that will do visually though.

ahhh. I always adored Lhune. so unique,yet simple design.

Just a few tips: the back fins look somehow in an odd position (they attach on a big shoulder muscle that may have some problems working proprely with the fins muscles passing trough it... since the fins need muscles attached to bones to move and express emotions - see ears for examples or fish fins, or tail display feathers: they are all attached to the spine or bones)
Maybe the back fins looks more realistic if they were attached along the neck or spine (like a lionfish).
Or on the sides but higher, over the shoulder and between the spine and the scapula so their muscles can be attached to the vertebrae and aren't on the way of the muscles needed for locomotion!

Oh I really don't mind which "version" of Lhune people use if they ever plan to draw gift art xD. Whichever they think is prettiest! Of course the most recent one is the one I feel closest to but in the end a Lhune is a Lhune x3. 's like looking back at old photographs of yourself.
