My first matte painting, sure to be a constant work in progress. Originally inspired by The Dark Tower by Stephen King, but the tower isn't right yet. So for now it stands on it's own. Hopefully.Stock from:

I'd love to let you, but I used a lot of stock and they don't allow commercial use, which an album most likely falls under :\ You're welcome to ask them though! Listed right underneath the pic.

haha thanks. i wish i made it more ominous, and the tower should be darker, but it was a cool exercise. I need to do some more DT paintings

aw thanks! It didn't go where I wanted it to, it was more of a matte painting exercise - but DT seems to overshadow the themes in all my work these days

You might think about the beams (how the clouds would line up with them). And as for the darkness, maybe increase the contrast a bit, try for some good highlights and strong shadows.
And I know it's not how it happens in the book, but it'd be kind of cool if maybe the Bear Shardik was patrolling the path. Or part of him that said NorthWest Positronics (or whatever it was) was lying on the path as though it fell there after an encounter with Roland. Or just a rose.
So far, so very good.

Thankee sai for the comment, sorry it took me like forever to get back to you (busy bee, I am). I'll keep all these comments in mind, I was just messing around for this one, and I couldn't get any good rose reference but I did want to get them in there. I didn't have my tablet with me so I couldn't paint the clouds like I wanted, but I definitely will do that if I get back to this piece.

Very well blended together, though personally I think it's a bit dark, but propably that's the thing if you make a DT related picture

yea originally it was much brighter, but it felt like it was lacking in the aura I wanted, so I just did a quick dark multiply layer. Thank you for your comment and your stock again!
