I know that I'm almost 4 years late, but do you have the link to this supposed thread with the fix saved, by ay chance?
I wanna give it a shot, since Carborunda isn't willing to try it.
I couldn't find anything by googling "windows 8.1 visual style jump list". The only relevant result was a Reddit post suggesting to uninstall a Windows Update that I don't have.

Присоединяюсь к предыдущему оратору, тема шикарнейшая, прям всё что я искал: кнопки на таскбаре не режут глаз своей яркостью, белый шрифт в заголовках — перфекто!
Надеюсь что автор поправит баг с джамплистом в 8.1u1 и сделает активное окно на таскбаре хоть чуть-чуть ярче) Или хотя бы подкинет ссылок на актуальные инструменты (Style Builder?), чтобы можно было поправить самому.

Эта тема была, так сказать, первой пробой пера. Всё, что я хотел сделать с восьмой виндой, я реализовал в Snowy8. Так что уж извиняйте. Ссылки на WSB ищите в сети на американских сайтах.

Great theme!
Just a couple of issues:
- Windows 8.1 Support (But I can live with the jump list bug)
- Taskbar button of the active window is not highlighted\different from the other buttons, this is a killer for me

Sorry, I see no reason to update this theme. You can install StartIsBack+ to avoid jumplist bug.

Love it. Any chance of removing the blue from places though? Selected items, menu items, etc. Would love options here, and personally would love red, but a grey style approach could work

no he's right. Someone could make a theme like this for windows XP. It's fairly easy, even without windows style builder or other XP theming tool.

This is a great remake of the windows 8 Theme, I love how this one looks though.

Great theme, much cleaner than the original one. I am using it right now. I would like to restore the original navigation buttons. I can't find them in msstyle file. Could you help me?

Прекрасная работа, наконец-то начинают появляться элегантные темы с допиливанием мелких но важных деталей. Спасибо, использую вашу тему. Развивайте 8Look дальше: можно уменьшить или вообще сменить дизайн кнопок проводника, а также сделать фон иконок запущенных приложений в панели задач чуть более выразительным (сейчас почти сливается с панелью)
