My last animated self portrait got a great reaction from people so I thought I'd make another one tonight.This one is me as well but it's more of a reaction gif rather than a self portrait. I like these little reactions and I think I'd like to do a series of them if they continue to interest people.
This is also a rotoscope animation totally done in photoshop. A total of 39 drawings (each one taking 5-10 minutes)

p.s. I know some of you really disliked my use of "messy writing/designs" but I think it adds something cute to the gif and I like the contrast from the realism, but that's my opinion.

I've only seen Rotoscoping used to remove camera from reflections in car commercial stock. I must do research to see how it is used the way in which you use it. This is a great piece of art :]

Hi! I have a few Q's, since I would love to start this myself and trace over a gif/vid I made to start, (I know trace is a bad word, but I can't think of a better one!) I love your style and the way you make it realist/cartoonish. I want to start myself, I shall be getting a tablet soon but can't afford photoshop, I have SAI. Can I do this with it? And, do you just film a quick thing, turn it into a gif w/ multiple slides and sort of draw over them, than revert them back to a film/gif? And I'm sorry for bombarding you with question! ;_; Never seen an artist do what I want to try.

I've never used SAI (I dont think? not sure what it is) I use the following programs, Photobooth to take the video, imovie to edit the video (make it short enough) photoshop to do the artwork and a bamboo tablet for the digital artwork. after your done with the art you can "save for web device" and they make it a gif for you. Just watch to make sure it's not too big of a file to put online

This is fantastic! I love how its slightly choppy and not so smooth! I think it would look awesome with the eye color being brighter like you did with the lips! Either way it looks awesome!
