Maya’s dogs, Argus and Orthrus, have been with her since they were puppies. She found them living in the ruins of a nameless town in the Midwest, trying to suckle their dead mother. Despite all the horrors she had witnessed during the Occult Wars and their aftermath, Maya was moved by the plight of these helpless animals and adopted them as her own.

Like many animals born in this new world, the dogs were mutants, changed by thaumaturgic radiation. Maya felt an instant connection with them, drawn to their fierce loyalty and determination to survive.

As time passed, Maya and her dogs became inseparable companions, their bond deepening with each passing year. They hunted together, slept together, and faced the dangers of this terrifying new world together.

Argus, with his supernatural senses, became Maya's protector, able to detect the presence of shapeshifters and other magical creatures before they could strike. Orthrus, with his two heads, was a fierce fighter, his powerful jaws and strength keeping them safe from threats both magical and mundane.
