I recognize some pictures are pretty, even though the content is not so pretty, but I don't go as far as faving it.

Well, it really depends on what the picture is. Things like Twilight fanart, or portraits of pro wrestlers, or technical drawings of cars - I'm not interested in those things but a good picture's a good picture. But stuff like fetish works, or acts of violence or bigotry, I'm a lot less likely to "appreciate" but I still recognize when it's well done.

I was just talking about this yesterday. I absolutely despise Vocaloids and Hatsune Miku but I've faved and commented on a picture of her that my favourite artist on here drew. No matter how much I dislike the subject matter, I just can't help loving the artist's style.
Actually, two of my favourite artists on here draw Vocaloids and it doesn't bother me for some reason =/.

Hmm,I'm not sure I agree with this one 100%. While I can definitely get behind not flaming people just for supporting a different idea of who should end up together, and I won't deny the talent and hard work that goes into such pieces, the idea of actually favoriting them baffles me (except when said artwork is genuinely funny; even then it's rare). The thing is, I only favorite things that I enjoy looking at, plus useful tutorials, and I think that's a perfectly reasonable way to be. And honestly, I don't think anyone really enjoys looking at a couple that they oppose.

Yeah, I usually avoid the subjects I really oppose, but if it's not blatant I'll still enjoy it. For example, I've got a couple pictures in my faves of couples I'm against, but despite the artist's motive the pictures themselves show the characters acting fairly true to form. In particular, there's a GaaraxLee picture wherein Lee is simply present to witness Gaara's formal promotion to... whatever the hell his title is in Shippuuden. Despite being a "pairing" picture, Lee is so bloody positive and enthusiastic about everything in the actual anime that I can easily see him being present to support a peer's promotion.
I've also got an Ace/Buttercup picture which, while I don't really support any PPG pairing, their color schemes and the artist's style still make for a visually appealing result.

Oh, well, I don't necessarily call a picture as shipping those two characters just because they're in the same frame; if they're acting in a manner in keeping with the way that DOESN'T piss me off, that would be silly even if the artist does normally put them together! Conversely, I can't stand the idea of HarryxDraco, but that doesn't stop me from drawing that one picture the shippers seem to love... of course, I wasn't at all thinking the same things they were when I drew it, but whatever. It goes both ways.
As for not-supported-but-not-opposed-either, I'm pretty much the same as you, yeah.

Yeah, it's more like... ship-inspired art than actual shipping, that I don't mind. Though I have seen a fair share of decent direct-ship pictures as well.

Oh, there's plenty of direct-ship art that is, artistically and technically, perfectly good. It doesn't stir anything in me and therefore won't get favorited, but if the artist asks for my opinion, I will give it - but only on the technical aspects.
