HOLY SHOOT I did not see this coming! 8O I don't think anyone other than me has ever drawn a kayat before. Ahhhh it's adorable; I love it! ^^
Young kayats' antlers generally begin to grow in at around the same time that they begin to walk (well, stand), so yeah, this is fine. I made a development-thingy for them a few months ago (you may have seen it at school): oi42.tinypic.com/6ejkht.jpg
Man, I really need to re-do their reference sheet. The one from 2011 is rather outdated as far as some of the info goes. ^^"

Yay! :3 Great, you love it And ah, oh yes, I remember that chart. Its little wind are so cute when it's still developing them, hehe. Oh my, I wonder what more there is to a kayat. And i had a couple questions. Well it's kinda more than a couple..
Are kayats mammals? thus, they are not born from eggs?
How do you pronounce 'kayat'? in my mind, the A-Y is provided as a long 'I' sound.
Can their eyes vary in color?
How about fur color? Fur patterns? I would rightfully assume that you wouldn't want any abnormal/complex fur patterns. But it was specifically for the face. in your reference sheet, on one kayat, the grayish blue fur ended before the nose. on another, the white fur had some sort of mask-ish pattern around the eyes, etc..
how long is it before they can walk ore stand?
Do they someday "leave the nest" or do they live in one big pride or in smaller heards?
Do they have a made-up predator who they fear.
I have more, but most of these anyway could be answered on your up-to-date ref, if you choose to create one i adore kayats so! ^^

1.) Kayats are placental mammals, so they give birth to live young. They are most often born in litters of two, though litters of one or three aren't unheard of. 4 or more can sometimes occur, but it's very rare and can cause more complications.
2.) Think of saying "cat" with a very hillbilly accent. Kay-at. So a long "a" sound as opposed to a long "i" sound.
3.) Eyes can be any shade of yellow, orange, or occasionally brown.
4.) All kayats' furs are grayish-blue, darker on the top with a lighter underside. Body markings are pretty much all the same, but facial patterns vary by individual (though some patterns are more common than others). Colors may vary slightly between individuals in that some are overall darker, lighter, bluer, or grayer.
5.) I'm not sure because I don't yet know exactly how long their development should take yet, but at least a few months. Their leg muscles are still somewhat underdeveloped at birth. When they reach a certain age they begin kicking and pushing and sliding around with their feet in order to strengthen them before they start trying to stand.
6.) It depends on the kayats. Kayats are social, but they aren't very territorial; they don't mind living near or with others, even strangers. But though they often live together, they hunt individually, with the exception of parents hunting for their kittens or a male hunting for his mate if she is either pregnant or has just recently given birth and the kittens are too young to be without her. So yeah, it's just depends on the individual's preferences, though males are more likely to travel farther because of their instinct to find a mate.
7.) Not really. Their size combined with the fact that they live high up in the snowy mountains makes it pretty difficult for other major predators to really threaten them.
Haha, I'd love to make an up-to-date ref for them, but I don't think I have the time or the patience to make anything that detailed or in-depth anytime soon. XD So ask away!
