Huh, rainbow nails as well, quite a colourful character.

Thanks much Rita! I honestly wasn't even paying much attention to how old or young she would appear - I just focused on getting her face/anatomy and skintones to have a more realistic look. Still, it's good that it is a factor for this picture as I now know to keep that aspect in mind. Not just for DOA art, but in general as well. Still, she turned out pretty well and I think it's got a nice relaxed atmosphere to it.

I must commend your effort on this, it's clear that alot of work has gone into it. Very vibrant and the background, while generic, as you say, suits the pic very well and adds to the amount of work you've put in.
Kasumi herself is quite well posed, but I have to say, there's something that I find really off putting. And I hate to say this, because I know how dissapointing it is to find that someone has quite a big problem with a certain part of one of my pics, but it's to do with her face, specifically, the diagonal lines linking the sides of her nose to the sides of her mouth. I can see why you put them in, because in reality, we all have those when we smile, but as I've found myself, no matter how realistic a look you're going for, for CG characters, getting those lines in and making them look good is really reeeaally hard, and I'm afraid you haven't succeeded here, as I wouldn't have, myself.
They just make her look so much older, compared to the perfect image of her we're used to seeing, and that's the reason why the character models of the girls don't have those lines - there's something about them that just doesn't work. I don't know what it is, but it's one of those facial features that don't really work in the world of artificial characters. at least not in this realm of characters. Sorry, I don't mean to be so negative.
The rest of it is really impressive though. You're clearly developing, and the bikini looks amazing. To be fair, those facial lines are quite subtle, but a tad too noticeable and distracting. It stops me from believing that this is Kasumi and not a Kasumi cosplayer.
Still, don't dwell on it - treat it as a lesson for the future.. but then again, what do I know?

First off, thanks for your detailed feedback. I know I won't ever be perfect - as much as I try to edit and carefully observe, there's always going to be things that I miss (there's at least one real obvious flaw in the background that I can't believe I didn't see before). I can understand your critique...though I'm not sure if that's a feature I'd really want to leave out. I think I could have done her smile lines a bit better for starters so I'll definitely work on that in future pictures. Perhaps the reason they don't seem to work is that her face is really still a mix of a semi-anime style and a purely realistic face (a lot of my "realistic" faces in the past have wound up like that). Also, as you commented, it does make her look older and maybe makes her less recognizeable. I don't personally have a problem with how her face looks, but from an objective perspective I suppose there's a very fine line with just how "realistic" to render characters like this. She doesn't have a real Japanese look either, so I'll have to give her another try in the future.
Glad you like all the rest of her though. Her bikini is my favorite element - I love all the bright colors. Thanks again for your feedback.
