Description A first impression of a small cousin of the dragon species. I call them Trills. Like song birds they chirp, trumpet and fill the tree tops with soothing melodies and tunes, hence their name. They are smart for their small size and live in colonies, flocking together as there is safety in numbers. They are about the size of a rat and use their needle like teeth to snatch up prey such as bugs and smaller animals. Their main priority in their day's travel through the forests and jungles is to find the treasured nectar from flowers however.

Unlike most small animals which try to blend into their surroundings, the Trill uses it's bright and alluring colours to attract mates, challenge other Trills and warn off predators. They do this by flashing their frilled wings which can be adorned with all sorts of growths and patterns, like a tropical butterfly. Their feet are more like that of a gecko or frog than of an actual lizard, allowing them to latch on to branches and other surfaces. Their tails are quite flexible so that they can coil around branches. This serves as a handy safety line. Their wings provide a quick escape and even though they are for display purposes they can fly for long stretches of time, making them a last resort for carrying messages like pigeons or ravens. They rely on hearing and sight mainly, hence the large frilled ears but Trills range from all sorts of appearances and colours. There are so many different types that Trills have become a separate dragon species, branching off from their larger, more advanced cousins. They have no fire power, no magical skills and are so small that they couldn't even be considered a part of the dragon species anymore.

Right I think that's everything for now. I might be designing a few of these. They are my own creation, so credit to Cat-S-Dragoness. No stealing! They are a part of this comic I'm thinking of doing, if I end up doing it, but if not, they're still a creation I'll probably keep on painting. Thanks for looking and reading!

wow thanks for the detailed comment! Comments like this always put a big smile on my face .
I'm currently trying out new techniques in digital painting and this design is an example of me trying to learn the techniques. Upon finishing it though I was scratching my head. The design I like but I still feel as though I could have done better. Thank you so much again!
