I was looking through some REALLY old files again when I found this fella.Cloud Strife from FFVII was my first try at coloured pencils 5 years (!!!) ago and was one of my very first submissions posted at deviantART...! I drew it as an x-mas present for my elder brother who introduced me to Final Fantasy VII in 1997. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have drawn any of these Final Fantasy portraits which kind of became my trademark back in 2007.
It's still one of my favourite games and honestly; I prefer the good old designs over the new (Advent Children) ones, although their 3D renders are pretty epic too.
So I decided to fix the original scan and resubmit it. The original file which I posted 5 years ago, can be found here .

Hahaha I'm actually playing FFVII right now.
But god damn every time I see your drawings I am both amazed and angered by your skill, I wouldn't be able to draw anything close to that even if I spent the 5 years in which it's been on DA to try.

* sighs * you really need to stop inspiring me, you know that? :-p now i want to do fanart in my own style and im supposed to be doing commissions, lol! anywho, to me, this looks exactly like the image in the old strategy guide, just in colored pencil. it warms my heart to see it and go back to that time! also, i do hope you finish Zack, he deserves more fanart, imo. ^_^

Lol, yep - I know Vincent is your favourite. Even if we "grow out of it" I think these characters still have a special place in our hearts...Kinda like how I thought Trunks from Dragon Ball Z was just the coolest EVA!! when I was 14
I have deleted tons of old deviations from my first years here (2006/2007 but I left behind ones that have sentimental value - Ones where I learned something new technique-wise from it, ones that were contest entries or made for special events in my life

250 is not really bad, you know. I have tons of works scrapped/on storage and yet, in two years my deviation count is hitting 238 by now

It isn't, but usually too many deviations is rarely a sign of quality. Most decent work couldn't possibly be mass-produced that fast, and that's what a quarter of my deviations were - works I barely spent more than a day on in my early moments here because I was just in a hurry to fill my empty gallery up

The poor guy had such an identity crisis that he didn't really have the time to focus on people who were obviously asking for any kind of affection from him (Aerith, Tifa... hell, even Barrett went on a date with him).
