Description

How lonely must you have been up until now…?

That‘s by far my favourite picture of this week, although it‘s messy and took ages to complete. I know, the key of Aaravos was probaly meant for today‘s prompt, but the first thing what came to my mind were Viren. He‘s the key for Aaravos to finally be free again, break out of his lonely prison after centuries of lonelyness and hatred.

It‘s always a pleasure to draw Aaravos‘s sweet stars and his glorious hair, but damn, I used soo many layers for this… a wonder my computer didn‘t crushed under this

And yes, as always I forgot these damn elves in The Dragon Prince only have four fingers. In the sketch he still had all five, but I noticed early enough, ugh…

Thank you very much dear! Normally the hands my absolute weakness too, and usually they look nothing but crappy. Here I had a great reference I could orientate myself, so the turned out fine. Okay, the human hand of Viren is okay, but I'm still not quite happy with Aaravos's hand, but I won't complain. I'm just happy somebody likes it that much to even comment on this small topic ^^

Thank you very much! It's very dark, but I'm (almost) satisfied with it ^^ Took enough time and energy

Those hands look effortless.

Layers make the world go round... This is impressive! I'm just learning how to do digital art and this is inspirational to me!

Which hands? Viren's or Aaravos's? For Viren's, I used a reference, well I took one for the whole picture, but you see... But Aaravos's hand is just as simple as I always draw them, sadly

Layers are important but also nerve wreckin! My computer is very old and sometimes crashes without a word, so I have to safe the picture several times. Not that easy with too many layers

In the last years, I mostly drew digital, but in my oppinion, traditional art is even harder! You can't change mistakes and need many skills and good materials to have a great picture. So I'm happy with my crappy paint art here and try sometimes something traditional ^^

BOTH. I think they BOTH look effortless which is quite an accomplishment.

Ahh never demean your own work.  At least not in public.   I try to think of it more as "I learned a lot and I learned what I WON'T do next time."  It's a slight shift in attitude where you're still acknowledging the piece needs work but keeping positive! You'd be surprised how many people wouldn't even see it as a problem but as a part of the beauty of the piece!

Okay, yeah, that's true, both mediums take time and effort. But for me, traditional is sometimes more difficult because of all the aspects I told you.

I know, I shouldn't talk this way about my work. It's a bad habit of mine ^^' And I realized, it's unfair to all the ones who really like the pictures I make, telling them kinda "you like art which sucks so you must be on the wrong way". Something like that. But I try to avoid this behauvior! Honestly, I'm glad I managed to draw for every day of this week a picture, and although not all pictures are master pieces, some of them way better than my usual work.

I definitely know that feeling! I'm so glad you are able to participate!

Creating "under pressure" or a required amount in a set time frame is always excellent practice and will often cause growth spurts in art!

And I'm glad you started such an awesome week! It's just wonderful and so refreshing!

Sadly, I only could submit everyday a picture because I was sick two weeks ago and had enough free time to work on my pictures. Otherwise I'd maybe only finished one, two pictures, if even. So it would be good to announce it at least three to four weeks before hand, so lazy stressed cathanupto can participate again ^^

Planning and sketching ahead of time has been the only way I've been able to do each day! I thinkkkk we announced 3 weeks ahead of time? I'm so glad you joined us!

Oh, okay, it was three weeks, I guess. I'm just a snail trying to do some art

Luckily I also had a lot of inspiration these days to sketch two to three pictures one after another, so the first few days went smoothly.
