For the sake of new readers, I included a word bubble specifically identifying the sword as Kouen's. I want to avoid unnecessary dialogue and let the pictures do the talking, but in this case I decided to make an exception.

Beginning with this page, I am changing to a 2:3 page dimension in the hopes that, once Afterimage is completed, the entire mini-series will be collected into a manga-sized paperback. I'm planning to go back to the first 7 pages and reformat them where I can get away with it, to keep the entire run as consistent as possible.

I used a halftone filter in part because it will help the background effect reproduce easier in a photocopier, but also as a callback to the way I used to shade the original series, as this is the first instance where a major object from UR gets a focus in Afterimage.
