Description
In 1385 the first step in uniting the Crown of the kingdom of Poland and the Duchy of Lithuania was achieved with the marriage of Queen Jadwiga and Grand Duke Jogaila. While Jogaila moved to Krakow to serve as King of Poland, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was left under the governance of a regent, and the union resembled something more akin to a very close and permanent alliance than a true political union.
