I think I may have been named after my hair color, silly as that sounds.

Oh no Ruby! Well, to tell you the truth I think Marceline is more interested in resting a cheek against Ruby's head and feeling the warmth and kindness that the girl radiates, but old habits die hard too. Ruby's shock is priceless, and this way everyone will see her white hair and instantly know it was from shock too.

I think she drains the shades of red through the use of her pointy fang, so she may not actually need to put the hair in her mouth. Then again, Ruby's hair is pretty well groomed, so it probably wouldn't be such a big deal if it did get in her mouth.
