Description [full view]

The same kind of phenomena as the hate engine and materia. Each are from a group of psychosis resulting in physical manifestation (techinically referred to as a "physical exaggeration") of extreme emotions, drives, and states of consciousness. These vary from simple fluid, semi-solid, and crystalline exudes (materia) to creature-like mobile complexes (both with embedded individuals, as here, or independently acting entities).

Secretive inner turmoil can be well studied through these psychological creations that would otherwise go unnoticed because both biological tendencies and symbolism find their way in to the psychological matter. For instance, this accute example depicts a girl who exaggerated her desire to flee, run, or otherwise escape some objective or subjective aspect of her life. Having excreted the materia used to make up the exaggeration, her desires can now be carried out, releasing the internal tension built up by her inability to flee. It has been released in the form of a creature which can, unlike her, run away. Also of note is its armor-like plating, a common feature of defensive exaggerations, pointing out that her need to run derives from a need to save herself from something unpleasant or potentially damaging.

With the amount of physical exaggerations on the rise, neopsychologists are hurrying to understand the underlying causes and similarities between cases in order to predict and treat their victims. While severity is most obviously a key factor, along with passive-aggressive tendencies and intense internal discrepency between the need to share and the need to hide, experts hypothesis that this phenomena may not be entirely new. Some daring scientists note that blushing may be the simplest form of exaggeration, and tears may be the earliest kind of materia.

Welcome to the EmiNation.

Pretty(really!) happy with this, even with the quick background. That pale encrusted exoskeleton is my freaking fave. Plus my affinity for embedded-in-monster-people and encrusted emotions has, like, conjoined and explained itself. What the eff is going on-

(Those lumps next to her head are *shoulders* folks, so don't ask).

Photoshop.

The best part of all this is the brilliant light pouring from the girl's eyes. I also like the color scheme that makes it all really look like it grew from a human body.

Um, not to be an ad for them, but that was the first thing it reminded me of.
Great backstory!

Passive-aggressive tendencies indeed... If only ALL of our inner monsters were so beautiful.

You're right - that subtle exoskeletal structure really is exquisite. I love the almost-shiny surface of that nearer limb.

The tumorlike quality is very creepy considering the smallness of the naked person.

Extremely awesome pic. But the description is what makes it an absolute fav.
Many artists are great at expelling abstracts into visuals, but you are one of the few that can [very articulately] indulge us with a thorough descript of what's behind it.
I covet.

I'm not even sure how to approach this. This really is something out of some sort of dream... I can't get over the fact that all your creations feel... uninhibited. Beautiful work, once again.

The rest of the pics I've scoped out, but this one really drew me in.

That is awesome! And such a wonderfully creepy backstory! Wierd archetypes and psychosomatic manifestations have been on my mind recently, so this is great to see!

It's definately not a *new* concept (as in both my own mind and similar concepts I've come across) but it's damn indulgent and fun, I sure hope . Yay psychosomatica!

Yaythanks! This took around 6-8 hours, I think. Didn't feel too long to me, since I'm getting to the comfortable point where 5 hours is short, 10 is average, and 20 is long. Time is confusing!

Thank'ee! What's really weird about drawing freaky things is that any scary aspects pass completely over my head. I have no idea how freaky things are until people react! Go fig

Don't feel bad about photoshop- it's taken me a few long years to get to this point, starting out with absolutely no clue as to what works and what doesn't. Stick to it and you'll find a technique that speaks to you! *is a digital junkie*

Hehe, aah hopefully I'll get better with it someday. I'm fine with using traditional media, but it's definitely a good idea to stretch your horizon. Photoshop is such a cool program, too..<3 Run on, my digitally addicted friend, run on..8D
