First of all, it's always interesting to seen how different people potray Spyro the Dragon an this one is indifferent.
It's important to get the target of the picture in focus, much as you would do when taking a photograph in real life. Before you see the background, you want to usually see the subject, unless the background is the focus. This keeps up the promise that Spyro is indeed, the main point of this image and the artist in question successfully put that across.
The eyes are strongly shaded, this is the first thing that I took notice of when looking at this. The drawer does a good job with the dragon's head too, the lines have control and flow very well. Lighting has been thought about too, with hints of the volcanic magma lighting up our dragon here. I would like though, to see the colours jump out at me a little more. Perhaps be a little more confident with the pencils that are in hand rather than rely on the white of the paper to gain lights. The image could benefit with more emphaise on the yellow lights, deep orange and yellow replacing the whites on the page. More confidence with the background (drawing rugged objects like rocks with the dance of the pencil rather than what you think is there is a suprisingly helpful tool and creating a natural looking background)
However, the advance of the subjects to backgrounds is always a difficult task, I would like to see more works like this in the future. Hopefully this was somewhat helpful to you.
