“There you guys are! What took you so long?”
“We were stalled is all,” Jimbo replied. “Hey, who’s the little girl?”
I turned my attention back to reality and noticed three other bullies walking toward us. There they were; the assholes Dolph insisted were good friends… My pupils shrank as I quickly hid behind my brother in panic.
“Jimbo, I’d like you to meet Celia. She’s my little sister.”
“You never told us you had a sister,” Kearney scoffed.
“Yeah,” Nelson added, “You sure she isn’t like, your cousin or something?”
Dolph sighed, “no, Nelson. She is not my cousin. She’s my sister.” He then looked at me. “Celia, this is Kearney, Jimbo, and Nelson. They’ll be joining us on our stakeout.”
I didn’t say anything. I shivered and then tugged on Dolph’s dark green shirt. “Dolphy, I wanna go home…” My quivering made his smile disappear. He didn’t know what to do. He wouldn’t turn back now. It was too late, as Aunt Cheryl’s house was quite a walk from where we were.
I then felt a touch on my shoulder and looked up, seeing Nelson smiling softly. “Hey, we’re not going to hurt you, alright?”
Jimbo laughed. “Yeah, we can’t anyway. Dolph would kick our butts!”
Dolph’s expression turned again. “Yeah, exactly.” The four just smiled at me seeming as friendly as they could seem.
