Description I was in the mood for drawing Peacock again, but I didn't want to just draw her exactly like the game.

Nothing special here. I like drawing Elegant Gothic Lolita style clothes, but these came out really boring and uninspired.
The umbrella looks particularly shoddy.

At first i thought she was wearing Rachel from Blazblue's outfit, but i realized it wasn't when i saw she didn't have the crosses on the dress

You may say that these clothes came out boring and uninspired... But my goodness, I find them to be an absolutely stunning variant of her normal outfit. It takes aspects from her normal outfit, and gives them a more elegant and gothic finish. And might I say you handled the cloth bends in the front of the dress very professionally?

Not something for painting the town red in, of course. But still it retains the little details of her old outfit, such as the bow on the chest, and the buttons and cloth in lieu of the metal plate and screws. As well as the shawl (I think that is what those are called?) that cover over her (lack of) shoulders.

I do believe that this is indeed a wonderful piece, and you most certainly don't give yourself enough credit for it. The only complaint I would have is that it's not in color, lol~. But most excellent job~! I do believe this deserves a favorite~. C8

(As you may have gathered I'm quite a harsh critic of my own work)

(Awwh, I can tell, dear. In fact, a lot of people have that very same problem, myself included. I believe that you've put plenty of work in to this piece, and as such, you deserve to have it recognized and admired. C8)

I wouldn't consider self criticism a problem!

Kittara-Mirrou In reply to Cellsai [2013-02-05 10:08:28 +0000 UTC]

Well it truly does depend on how it affects you. For some people, self-criticism can help them see errors in their art that other people wouldn't have the courage. And others, their self-criticism helps them strive to be better.

Mine just generally discourages me, though it does do the first-mentioned thing for me. Which is nice, truly.

Thank you, m'dear!

My main complaint with the design is that this is sort of my go-to EGL dress design. A crinoline with exposed skirts at the front and a frilled shawl/cape thing. I didn't really spend any time thinking about it, so it looks very similar to a lot of other dresses I've drawn! The parts I did change, like the flat buttoned chest and skirt flap, look tacked on to the rest of the design. I do like the hat though!

If anything, this picture kind of makes me want to do a series of EGL dresses for the whole cast, so I might revisit that when I clear the rest of my plate!

You're quite welcome~.

Hmmm... Well, I haven't seen your other dress designs really, so this one looks absolutely stunning to me! I don't really think that said mentioned parts look "Tacked on", as they look befitting to the rest of the dress to me! 'Tacked on' or not, I think they're lovely additions. And yes, the hat is absolutely adorable! C8

But if you're really having trouble making varied EGL designs, I'd suggest browsing the web to find various design-types and 'taking them apart' to figure out common pieces and parts used in EGL designs. With that, you'll be able to easier mix-and-match what you think would fit the design in question.

My goodness, I would absolutely love to see more in the set. I am sure that they would all have some quite lovely dresses indeed~. 8D

Ar, that's usually how I approach drawing everything. I build everything mechanically and then make it look nice afterwards
I'm usually pretty varied with my dress designs, it's just this one in particular I was lazy about! Thank you none the less!

Kittara-Mirrou In reply to Cellsai [2013-02-05 10:14:00 +0000 UTC]

Well, that is most certainly good! Making pieces, and fitting them together definitely makes it easier.

And for being lazy, this is very impressive. I know I'm probably sounding repetitive by saying that, but I just... I LOVE this dress design! Lol~.

One thing I love doing is designing outfits, because they can say so much about the person wearing them. Some outfits give the wearer the absolute air of sophistication and style.. While others can give the feel of a rugged but talented person. It's just so fun to play with, you know~?
