Runestone Rhetoric – A Brief Assay

In the conducting of my research and the desire to remain neutral in all manners applicable, what follows is the presentation of my findings to a wider audience in a way that neither promotes nor condones the use of runestones. This is not a guide in how to create runestones, but rather this brief report is meant to serve as a primer into it history, and a deep and varied history do they have. It was difficult enough to ascertain its origins simply because of the many cultures that have made use of them over the eras and the resources available to me.

To start, most scholars seem to agree that the seemingly mystical relationship of MegaStones and other such stones and objects that affect one’s evolutionary processes may have been the primary motivation into the creation of runestones. Magic has always been quite the spectacle to most folk as has been the power to change ones form and potential destiny through such objects. These two factors combined certainly helped boost the popularity of runestones through the ages as the craft itself evolved into wider practices.

From simple fortunetelling and foresight tools to effective weapons of war, the use of runestones has only largely been limited by that of the creator’s ingenuity. Many have compared it to Alchemy, a comparable practice to begin though no less daunting an endeavor. The making of runestones is a similar venture that allows non-magically capable folk to tap into the seemingly impossible. From simple pranks to effective tools of war and espionage. Weapons and armor of all sorts have been crafted with sockets where these stones can be set into and exchanged depending on the needs of the user. A trait found quite popular to those on both sides of the law where runestone traps, wards, and other various enhancements find the most use.

So shop smartly, craft carefully, and always verify the integrity and quality of a runestone if at all possible before use.
