A natural actress, this troublemaker is quick with her wit and always armed with a charming smile. She's quite snarky, and values anyone with a good sense of humor. She loves finding new things, and often spends her downtime wandering and exploring. However, these downtimes are few and far between, as her restless nature leads her to spend much of her time terrorizing the town with her antics.
She’s fairly outgoing and an incessant flirt, known to occasionally strike up a conversation with a stranger, especially one graced with good looks. Though she's unlikely to lie to those she's close to, she has very few qualms about deceiving strangers, and is willing to put up a front and twist the situation to get something she wants.
History |
Binah was born in Veilstone City to loving parents, Dryden, a book publicist, and art gallery owner-Alice. She had one sibling growing up, an older sister named Corrine. However, because of their dramatic, 14 year age gap, the two were never especially close. Once Corrine moved out when Binah was four, it was just the little family of three living in their humble house. Growing up with parents who were so immersed in the arts, it was no shock when Binah began to take interest at a young age. Dryden, a warm-hearted Arcanine, fully embraced his daughter’s newfound interests, encouraging her to explore every creative outlet she could think of, and often came home from work at night laden with books and art supplies for her.
An imaginative and charismatic child, she had an almost instinctual talent for acting, and took to it naturally. She quickly grew from acting out elaborate pretend scenarios for her friends at recess, to receiving lead roles in school plays. She eventually earned herself an enrollment in the city's performing arts high school, much to the delight of her proud parents.
As she got a bit older, she began to grow bored with the isolated city she lived in. She had exhausted all the city’s means of entertainment and at the age of 15, began to grow restless. As her boredom grew, her restlessness soon turned to mischief. She began using her wits, along with her skills in acting, to come up with schemes to trick the neighborhood kids out of their money. As she grew and brought her scams to bigger, city audiences on the weekends, she became quite a talented con artist, often using street performances to draw in a crowd. Once she had them gathered, she would use wit, grace, and feigned naivety to trick them into betting against her in simple street games before hustling them out of their money (and occasionally picking a pocket or two.)
Soon enough she had graduated, and without studies and acting classes to keep her occupied, tricks and thievery became her daily routine. Throughout the years, she had set some unofficial rules that she followed; she never targeted those who seemed less well off than her, and anything that appeared to have sentimental value she would turn in to the cops. This earned her quite a bit of praise from the police department for being a “model citizen” and all but completely shielded her from any suspicion, allowing the Vulpix’s life of petty crime to continue unchallenged.
Her parents knew nothing of their daughter’s antics, continuing to believe she was the clever, charming young actress she had always been. And she was, at home at least.
One day when she was wandering the streets in the city, she tripped and bumped into an older, gentlemanly fellow, effectively relieving him of the contents in his right coat pocket. Among the crumpled bills and a grocery receipt, she found a folded old envelope with a curious seal on it.
After reading of the strange island and desperate for change, she excitedly told her parents of her sudden plans to move away, and they encouraged her adventurous desire. Wasting no time, she tossed her belongings into a trunk, shared a bittersweet goodbye with her parents, and headed for the nearest port first thing the morning.
Move Set |
Will-O-Wisp- Binah produces a purple ball of flame in her hand, which can then be hurled at her target, causing a burn. She can also let them roam free and follow her, using them as a light source.
Hex- With eyes glowing purple, she forms a vague black eye shape between her palms, often muttering quiet incantations as she does so, and launches it at her target.
Faint Attack- A true display of her acting skills, Binah will act deceptively innocent and naive to draw her target close (or just sneak up on them if she's in a particular rush) and then slam them with a sucker punch.
Fire Blast (She got this TM during a particularly successful day of pick pocketing) - Binah uses either hands or mouth to launch a potentially very powerful fiery blast (though she has learned to control the size of the blast for more practical uses.)
Extras |
-Unlike most Vulpix, she has blue eyes instead of brown.
-Because of her high body temperature common of fire types, she prefers cooler days and can get rather cranky during the summer if she’s not kept cool.
-She hates blank walls. She thinks they’re creepy, so she covers her room with photos, feathers, drawings, anything she finds interesting.
-When standing straight, she's slightly pigeon-toed.
-She's barefoot about 99% of the time.
-Whenever she gets the hiccups, her internal flame goes out of whack, causing her to release a little spurt of fire with every hic.
Life on Steam |
-Was used as a supply scout and living flashlight during the city's ghost invasion, using her will-o-wisps to keep the woods lit for the evacuated residents.
-Despite having to listen to Drea whine, she thoroughly enjoyed time hopping, and joined a couple friends in staging the apocalypse during the Renaissance era, much to the dismay of the police force.
-Renovated one of the abandoned lofts in the city into a place of her own, and got a fuzzy companion to go with it.
-Got herself a job working as a barista in one of the town's more popular coffee shops.
-Later celebrated her boss’ marriage by escorting the ring bearer down the aisle, and promptly getting shwasted at the reception.
-Was very excited about the circus coming to town, despite it's oddly sudden appearance, and had a blast taking in everything the mystical cirque had to offer.
-...Until she spent a month as Circe's favorite little puppet. Once she turned back, the reality of what happened really hit her hard, leaving her incredibly upset.
-Got a second job as a radio host at the local station, located under her loft.
-After attending the Steam Sunset Social, she found that she had swapped bodies with her moody sibling figure, and spent a good deal of the month trying to master levitation.
-Despite her hopes to have a somewhat normal Halloween, she, along with the rest of the island's residents, was sucked into the Distorted Wonderland, where she joined Team Brawn to try and find a way to escape.
-During the Tea Party, she was reunited with Circe herself and, after some persuading from the Ex-Ringleader, calmed down enough to tolerate (and maybe even... enjoy?) her company.
-Her kissing booth returned for Timeline Inn's Valentine's day festival, this time with an aesthetically pleasing upgrade.
-After the rats invaded the inn, she offered to let her friend Jasper stay with her in her loft, and the two set up resistance against the rodent army.
-Helped in the search for Zen, and participated in the celebration once they were found. She even managed to win the talent show.
-Her prize was a dakimakura.
-She loves it.
-Was promptly horrified when Izar arrived and began brainwashing residents, and started having horrible intrusive thoughts about the Cirque. These had quite a negative affect on her mental state.
-Despite all of this, she tried her best to remain helpful in an attempt to redeem herself, and became one of the most persistent Plague Runners. She suffered a bad injury during this time and required stitches.
-Unfortunately, she ran into one of the Infected on one of her runs who proved to be too strong and quickly overpowered her, turning her into one of the monsters she feared.
-Once over, she spent all of her time and energy pretending nothing was wrong, until all of her emotions culminated in a breakdown that resulted in her quitting her radio job, and indefinitely closing the caf that she had recently received as a parting gift from her boss.
-With many of her friends returning to the mainland, she had plenty of time to self reflect and collect the pieces of the life she thought was irreparable. She's giving herself a fresh start.
-She plans to renovate and reopen the cafe in the upcoming year.
