Description What I drew for Eicca yesterday. That was close. Far too close.

Anyway...
The reference picture belongs to *HeWhoWalksWithTigers and can be found here: [link]
Go check out the tiger man's work. He's in Thailand at the moment, so his responses will probably be quite delayed, but he's an awesome guy with an amazing gallery.
Tools: .5 mechanical pencil with HB and 2B lead, HB graphite stick, kneaded eraser.... and I think that's it. O_o Oh wait, Q-tips for blending.
Time: Probably around ten-eleven hours? It's the only reason I have any pride in this piece. I don't remember working this quickly in a long time.

--
"Tigers are the largest of the big cats and are exclusively found in Asia from India to Vietnam, from Indonesia to the Russian Far East. The tiger can be divided into 9 subspecies: 4 are currently critically endangered and 3 are already extinct. Though estimations of tiger populations only a few years ago was 5,500-6,000, today populations are likely closer to 3,500 and are still declining. Dramatic declines of the tiger in India, thought to host the majority of the world’s tigers, have fallen to less than 1,411. Overall, the past decade has seen a 40% reduction in tiger habitat, which now represents a mere 7% of its historic range. Poaching is a significant problem throughout the tiger’s range, the demand for its body parts in traditional medicines, tonics, and exotic dishes driving a lucrative trade that is wiping out entire populations. Long-term threats include habitat fragmentation and prey depletion, which is accelerating the tiger’s demise and subsequently reducing the long-term genetic viability of many populations.

If you want to help, the best for you to do is to educate yourself ([link] ), never buy products made from tigers or endangered species ([link] ), and tell others. Contact me for more information." *HeWhoWalksWithTigers

1. Thank you.
2. Really, thanks.
3. You're awesome, and I really appreciate that!
4. If you can mimic it, go for it.

PS: Just a note on English--"many" is for things that can be counted/quantified; "much" is for things that are not usually measured (ie: love, sympathy, liquids). Foods are weird; for rice, you use "much" though you'd use "many" for sandwiches. But now I'm rambling.

Wow, awesome job on this! It's really great.

Yeah, I haven't been to your gallery in a while. I think my friends settings got messed up or something. I need to go fix.

I think you're exaggerating there, but thank you anyway.

lol, it's fine. I haven't visited anyone's gallery much. My Internet has been screwing over lately, so I usually don't leave my computer on for over four hours anymore. I hope you figure out what happened with the settings, though. ^^

lol I just tend to be a tad jealous of those who have artistic abilities, considering that I have none . . .

Oi, I have screwy internet. So annoying.

Chaldemone In reply to illuminara [2008-12-11 22:26:20 +0000 UTC]

Eh, it's just something you work at. Either you become obsessed with making doodles look real or you give up and start writing instead. I'm too indecisive to make a decision so I keep on trying at both... while chasing other dreams as well.

Agreed. >_o

illuminara In reply to Chaldemone [2008-12-12 02:34:33 +0000 UTC]

haha, yus, I know! I can draw decently, but it takes way more time than I'm willing to put into it . . . Writing takes time, too, but it just seems like I accomplish more with writing.

Haha, I know how that goes, too. I have waaaaaaaaay too many hobbies, but I like them all far to much to give any of them up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chaldemone In reply to illuminara [2008-12-12 07:19:15 +0000 UTC]

Haha... I think the main difference is that educational systems force people to learn to read and write whereas practicing drawing isn't really forced upon anyone. I'm sure that if you practiced both equally, that you'd be able to draw as quickly and as well as you write.

I know!! Why does the world have to distract us with so many interesting complexities?! Haha... Sometimes I feel like I'm chasing my own tail. Oh well. It's fun.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

illuminara In reply to Chaldemone [2008-12-12 14:05:01 +0000 UTC]

Hmm . . . that's probably true, assuming you have about the same amount of creative talent in both areas. If you inherently bad at either, then you'd have to work harder at it. I'm inherently bad at music, so I don't even bother to do anything with it. But yeah, practice is definitely key! I'm just so lazy . . .

Haha, yes, I've noticed that. Very annoying, but rather fun at the same time. *chases tail* Weeeeeeeee . . .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chaldemone In reply to illuminara [2008-12-13 00:36:03 +0000 UTC]

I think I could've been good at music had my mother been more intelligent about it. *rolls eyes* I've only been actively listening to music for about two years... so my ears weren't really developed when she tried to make me learn piano and play songs I didn't even know. I really wish I could play a bow-string instrument, though... I love them so much, but my mother only loves the sound of her own voice. ¬¬ I still think it's just a matter of dedication and practice.

Yay for tail-chasing!! If life is a journey... we're not getting anywhere.

illuminara In reply to Chaldemone [2008-12-13 01:25:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that would be difficult. That's too bad, though. Bow-string instruments are lovely-sounding.

Haha, so true!

And this is what I call frozen in motion. Don't ya love it?

Haha... Yeah, that's what I kind of thought. This was so rushed, but I'm so much more proud of the result since I know the time frame, and that I had a calc test the next day. Anyway, yeah, the full report is up. It's quite long, but I figured you'd like it. I'll post pictures later.

Chaldemone In reply to briative [2008-10-28 18:37:05 +0000 UTC]

...what is there to be jealous of that you don't have? o_O Hehe... Eicca was kind of rushed, so barely looked at the thing (though I'm sure he'll appreciate it at least somewhat later on) and his voice sounded so much deeper than I remembered... He said that he wasn't sick when I asked, but explained that it was just the normal "tour-flu." I'll post more details later. I have to get to my next class in twenty-five minutes and I'm at school right now.

Uff, they were in a rush with you too? I hope they aren't like that next time. :\

I look forward to reading your review. I assume you didn't have a chance to ask about the letter?

Chaldemone In reply to briative [2008-10-28 23:54:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... really rushed, and no, I'm sorry. I barely got Perttu's signature and didn't even get a hug from Eicca. There were so many pathetic "fans" outside... frickin' ugh. This handicapped guy got to go in first and kept talking about the band as if he actually knew them... AND HE CALLED PERTTU "PETRU." I was SO pissed. I mean, I know I don't know everything about the band, but fucking hell... lol, I'll post a fuller review here later. Don't feel like dealing with the forum even though that's probably a better place to post it. You can copy/paste it if you want, but meh.
