Thirty days into a one hundred day sentence at Severe Punishment Heavy Labor at Quarry Camp along with nineteen other unfortunate members of her block back at Deer Ridge, Amy had grown somewhat accustomed to her new existence. She was fortunate to work at shoveling finished gravel from ever growing piles into the back of trucks. Most of the female prisoners in the camp worked at even harder labor such as chopping stone from a rock face, or breaking this up with sledgehammers. Others hauled this broken rock to the crushing mill, which was turned all work day by thirty women chained to its handles. Still others transferred the newly crushed gravel to the big piles Amy and a few others worked on. For Amy, at least it was slightly easier. There weren't always trucks to be filled and the guards didn't continually hang out there ready to beat her if she slacked off-- but there were cameras trained on the area so Amy figured out how to at least look busy for the whole of her sixteen hour work day.

The remainder of her day involved roll calls before and after working, a body search, hopefully getting something to eat (usually very foul) in her bowl, and sleeping on the concrete floor of the barrack she was locked inside each night for five hours.

This went on for day after day, with the only variety being a whipping or the denial of food, until Amy was sure that one hundred days had passed-- she was good with numbers, after all. It was day 103 that she heard a guard calling out her number 25916, ordering her to report to the loading area where a panel van stood waiting. Inside were two other prisoners from C Block: 23778 (Charlotte) and 25342 (Marisol.) Of the twenty who had been sent there, seven had been executed or otherwise died, three were about to return to Deer Ridge, and the rest would remain there indefinitely.

During the ride back, Amy really wanted to talk with the other two women about their experiences at the camp, but she didn't dare speak-- there could be listening devices in there. Arriving at Deer Ridge, the three of them were reprocessed by being showered, re-photographed, and dosed with antibiotics and antiseptic. Amy put her old summer uniform back on, including her bow, and was refitted with her lightweight shackles. She was thinner than before, but her tits hadn't sagged. They did tattoo the words "ESCAPE RISK" on her right forearm. She was relieved that there wouldn't be extra disciplinary measures-- no extra time added, but the 103 days served at Quarry Camp did not count as time served. If she was assigned to work outside the complex, which only happened about three times, she would have to wear a ball and chain, a stumble bar, and either wear a punishment mask or clown makeup.

Amy returned to her duties in the office as though nothing had happened.
