Valdern is a Human officer in the Netherworld and Galactic Empires, serving as an admiral in the former. During the period leading up to the Battle of Endor, he was appointed as commander of the Death Star II while being ordered to move the battle-station to the Endor system due to fears that it's current location in the Cron Drift might had been compromised.

Darth Vader temporarily assumes command of the superweapon and use it to destroy a major Rebel supply base on Drinba V and once his task was completed, Valdern hands command of the station to Moff Tian Jerjerrod before returning to command the Eternal Darkness.
