Description Tutorial: Part 1 , Part 2

My final project for Conceptual Maquette class, and my favorite. The assignment was to sculpt a non-human character/critter in a dynamic pose. We had to have two removable items on our sculpt, so his halo is exchangeable with demon horns, and he has a removable demon tail. The concept of this character is that he's a demon pretending to be an angel. Now he's making his getaway and ditching his disguise.

He's suspended above the clouds, with his only contact points at his hand and the base of his hooves. His wings are made with translucent sculpey, though it makes them pretty fragile. :< I wanted to put some feathers falling off his demon wings, but I didn't have the time. The clouds are white sculpey III, and his toga is a lighter gray than the rest of the figure. The red from his mouth is from me accidentally burning the sculpey. ^___^ For his halo, I chose to use a Byzantine-style disc-halo rather than the typical ring halo. The halo's made of Apoxie Sculpt so that it's more durable.

Super Sculpey and Sculpey III, approx 14"x14"x11". Photography by Professor John Larison.

Oh my gaw that looks amazing! The detail and the everything!
I love how you have him tearing his toga and how nice his fur is and..... just.....everything .

This makes me weep on the inside. T^T It's so beautiful.

That sucker must be heavy. Sorry for the random thought, but my pandawombat's a fraction of this guy's size and he's got some weight to him.

If you made a guide I'd be a very happy camper

This is a really neat concept! I love the legs and hoofed feet. And the red around the mouth seems like a happy mistake. It reminds me of blood, which is very suitable for this picture... Like he just ate someone and now he's making his escape.

Wow. Excellent job making that iconic, then tossing in just enough details to deliver exactly what you want. I like how you textured various parts of his body. Gosh. If I had money, I'd ask about what it would cost to commission you. Just amazing.
