Description I think we almost planted 4 or 5 different kinds of pumpkin plants and we only got 3 pumpkins.
This is one of them...and yes it decided to grow up on our fence...I just hope it won't fall down since
my mother refused to make a hammock for the pumpkin.
It's allready orange the last time I saw it.

oh my it's not even August and Autumn allready begun ...I'm not sure if I should be happy or not.

I'm glad you like it. hahah well me neiter that's the first climb up pumpkin
and almost everyone who saw it mentioned something like that.
But somebody here told me they have seen it now more often...now I wonder
what makes them climb, maybe they need more light than they get on the ground
since it was very shady where my mother planted them.

Awwww that would be soooo nice.

Did you plant something?

That's really cool. So it decided to climb the fence on it's own? Extra cool! Will you cook it?

chaosqueen122 In reply to taibossigai [2014-08-29 16:42:21 +0000 UTC]

haha yes we did not direct it there. My mother planed for it to grow in a raised bed and to climb down and grow along the fence not on it
but it defenitely had other plans
Thank you very much
If it's stays up there till October we defenitely make soup with it.
How is your garden doing? did you plant anything nice?

Very cool.

My garden isn't doing so well. My green onion patch is doing amazing and is making tons of seeds to create more onions.

We cut the apple tree back too much, so there was about 12 apples this year. In an effort to keep the worms out of the apples, I put plastic bags over the apple bunches and called them "Apple condoms". It kept the worms away, but kept the apples from ripening properly. It was kind of neat though, I just walked up to the tree and wiggle the bags, and end up with a handful of pre-bagged apples.

Walking through the neighbourhood, I've seen several pumpkins growing up in the air on fences or hedges. Seems to be the latest fad among pumpkins.

...Wait. OH GOD they're becoming self-aware!!

Other than that, that's a nice pumpkin you have there.

Oo wow I mean I thought this one was just an accident...but uh that sounds
like a conspiracy to me now

Ahhh oh no...that ruins all the pumpkin soup and fun Halloween carving etc.

Thank you very much I just hope it's still there. I might update this picture.

shouldn't be hard to make a hammock for it, Just take an old panty hose & tie to the fence to give it some extra protection.
I planted zucchini, they are not doing well (end rot virus)  & spaghetti squash. It too is growing on the fence, & doing very well.
Congratulations on your beautiful homegrown pumpkin.

Ah that's genious! I was thinking of using an old bed-sheet or dish try cloth but a panty hose
would be much much easier to tie around. OH my gosh Thank you very much
I'm not sure she said she will but she cares more fot the tomatoes I think

Aw oh no. Awesome spaghetty squash, I always wonderd how do you use them? I've seen
some receips but is the flesh really that tringy (I haven't got my hands on one, but I plan to this year)?

Thank you very much, I just hope it stays up there till October.

Old panty hose are perfect for tieing up plants cause they are flexible without binding. Take a lengeth of p. hose & cut them into 2 inch circular bands use these to tie plants to support poles.  For a hammock, a leg length should do.

You cut the squash in half ( they are as tough as pumpkins) scoop out the seeds. Save them to plant next spring.
Put it in the oven with a small amount of water (apx 1/2 c) to steam bake them. Kind of like you do with winter or acorn squash.  Bake til tender apx 30 min-45min. It depends on the size. Then using a fork you just scrap it out & serve with butter & seasoning or marinara sauce.

You can also microwave the squash, but I never have.

hahahah yes maybe and you are right it's defenitely going to be
used for Halloween not sure if carved or in food...but most possible
soupe and cake. Since I might get one of the special kind of Halloween pumpkins again.
They were nice for carving.
hahaha oh my yes

The summer was mostly rain.

OH my yes I understand I wanted some to but the balcony is not very suitable for the plants
so my mother was so nice and planted some in the garden. Sadly we only had 3 surwiving pumpkins.

we bought them as little sprouts but I've read you can dry the seeds and plant them. I think I might
try next year, maybe you can too?
