Page for my "Practical Visitor's Guide to the Labyrinth"
Painted in Photoshop CS5, using the film as reference.
About 7 hours of work.
The Labyrinth and it's Characters are © Jim Henson
This guide however belongs to me!!!

Sorry about the copious watermarks. They aren't going anywhere. Don't ask. I am SO proud of this project so far, and would hate to see any part of this turn up somewhere else.

Please note that I don't have time to say "thank you" for every favourite, but I appreciate them all nonetheless! Thank you all for your support!!!

Another page I'm not crazy about. I guess I hadn't realized what a challenge it was going to be to paint the mossy parts of the eye lichen. I wanted to do another major character, but decided against it because I don't have a lot of time at this point. Two more crazy weeks, and then I'll have a great deal more time! I can't wait!

In my headcanon, these plants/creatures are called Eye-vy. I know it's not accurate, but I just can't believe Jim Henson missed a chance to do a stupidly brilliant pun name with those things.

I do agree that they clearly serve as part of Jareth's spy system.

So cool! One of the lesser seen creatures of the labyrinth in the artwork. You really should make all your guides into a book!

Thank you! It's true, the eye lichen don't get enough love
I wish I could make it into a book! I don't own the copyright though

Very true on the copyright but I think you can make upto 15 as "fan art" just self published or just make some to give to friends ^_^

I would so love to have miniature guide books to give out with my labryinth soft sculptures

I don't know if that's true. Maybe one day I could get it published legitimately by the Jim Henson company... that would be awesome. I can dream at least

I gave some serious though to trying to build some that would be moveable, but never got around to it.

Quite a brilliant little organism, indeed! And I love theit little murmurings. I had not thought about their spying capabilities! Nicely done.

Haha... well... that was some inferencing work on my part. For all I know that's not what they originally intended. But I liked the idea

ahh, so I didn't miss something..

I like it! it kinda fits in with the Goblin King's ego

I found out something interesting about the Labyrinth (after watching a special edition copy I own).. did you know that the main choreographer was none other than Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden) from Star Trek: The Next Generation? She's not only a cool actress, but she must have started out in choreography...

Thanks!

Funny you should mention that! I found that out when I got my special edition copy too! I was so shocked, had no idea that she had done choreography, let alone for one of my favourite films of all time! She was always one of my favourite Next Gen characters

I used to own almost all the TNG action figures, including Dr. Crusher. I gave them to a friend's little brother recently

and you're welcome, keep up the awesome on these entries
