Description HAPPY NEW YEARS 2010!!!

Please note that if you but don’t comment, I probably won’t get a chance to say thank you... so thanks in advance!

This is dedicated to *all4athena , whose work with big cats (and all other animals for that matter) is always so inspiring... and to =NatureByDesign for prodding *cough* nagging *cough* me to finish this piece! lol

So, Sherkhan never really looked this sweet and innocent, but I really wanted it to match my Geronimo painting [link] .

Unlike the Geronimo painting, this one didn’t go smoothly at all. I started it back in August, but got stalled out... tried again and again to finish it, but it just wasn’t happening. It became one of those projects that I’d pick up when I didn’t have any other inspiration, but it just never went anywhere! Didn’t finish it until tonight!
In the end however, I’m REALLY happy with the outcome, and glad Dave wouldn’t let me get away with not finishing it

Wow! First of all, this was such a treat to see this on New Years right when I got home. I was like "YEAH!!!".

I really am so thrilled that you have finished this because the outcome is fantastic. It's got similar technique to the one of Geronimo, so they would match so well hanging side by side. The fine detail with all of the fur and whiskers is incredible. Great job with this!

I can't seem to stop looking at the ears, top of the head and forehead because the detail is so incredible and the patterns on the fur is awesome.

Yay! So glad you like it! Wanted my last deviation for 2009 to be a good one

I actually modified the background colour of the Geronomio painting to go with this one... and took a while to get the style to match because they were painted with such a chunk of time between them. Thanks!

I'm glad that you still like it after looking at the ears. I HATE painting ears. For some reason I'm always afraid that they don't look right, but if you keep looking at them and don't see anything wrong, I feel better

You're very welcome, Aelia. I'm so glad with the way both of the paintings turned out. They are both two of my favourite little guys too, so it's great to see paintings of both of them. I think the ears look great.
