As for the details of the head, after a GREAT trip to Japan, I gathered a sh*t load of reference materials, including kappas

Some of them have it, some have a haircut inspired by occidental monk tonsures. After a trip in Japan last november, most of these were showing a dome with water in it, maybe on a next piece I'll put it to be more accurate

This is a great sculpture the detail on the tree and water are amazing and the skin looks top notch. my only complaint is that kappas have a bowl like indent on the top of their heads that they must keep full of water.
