Description
In case a lot of you didn't know, there's something in the works... ^___^
As too many of my fellow geeks must know by now, a total liar named Silent Bob dropped the ball and nuked his own MOTU 'sequel in name only'. HARD. The second set of episodes of that damn show proved to be even worse in some ways than the first; it's unbelievable that in ten episodes, he killed off and then deconstructed Prince Adam for the sake of making him subordinate to Couldn't-Be-And-Never-Will-Be-Teela. We were hoping that Netflix wouldn't disappoint us in the same way they did with "Princesses of Power", but what we had to suffer thanks to his vision of 'stronk wahmen' actually made Current-Not-She-Ra honestly look attractive!
Well, it's kind of in part a reaction to that bull that something's been brewing...those of you who know as well as I do know. Some other great Deviants like have been letting the cat out of the bag a little bit at a time. Here's another tease!
I'm gonna be working with the madman himself to bring to life an alternative version of the great heroes of Eternia that will still strive in every possible way to do justice to the original classics from the 80's, "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" and "She-Ra, Princess of Power"! What I mean by an 'alternative' version is that it will be a new take on the classic stories (we're not repeating anything beat for beat) with a slightly different spin on things, but you'll still recognize heroes like Adam, Teela, and Adora and villains like Skeletor and Evil-Lyn much as you remember them from the original cartoons. There won't be any politics, no 'subverting expectations', none of the crap we've been forced to expect from Hollywood in Current Year.
Like SLAYERS OF DEMON CITY 7, is coming up with the look and concepts of the characters and their world, and I'll be writing the stories and bringing you the art to go with them. (Maybe comics will be included...it's still early an it depends on how ambitious I am. I don't want to get in over my head!) We're both trying to be absolutely true to the mythology that inspired us to recreate it in the first place...but let me get to the slightly different spin I mentioned.
This may be a warning for some of you and others might be drawn to the idea like moths to a flame, but the tone of these stories will be a bit more mature than you remember from the cartoons! I don't mean in a gratuitous mature-for-its-own-sake way like for instance, that stupid thing called "Santa Inc." that tried to cover up all of its nonsense with sheer raunchiness. I mean it'll be mature at the same level you might remember other things from the 80's: the sword and sorcery movies from that decade like 1981's "Conan the Barbarian" and "Red Sonja" from 1985. With all respect to the memory of Lou Scheimer, unlike his cartoons, what we're going to be bringing you will tread into the kind of territory where kids need to be accompanied by adults!
Really, what you'll see is mainly for fans who grew up with Adam, Adora, Teela and everyone, just like me and SSPD077. Again, it'll be with the utmost respect to what we love, and I couldn't be more serious when I say that. (Especially after we've seen how horrible Hollywood can be with all of their stuff no true fan would want to watch!) All I can ask is keep an open mind, and the art you see above should give you an idea of how much respect we have to pay. Adora aka She-Ra alone will have a story defined by the recovery of hope in spite of the worst of deceptions as she takes a true hero's journey...I'll be giving my best to bring you an adventure that will make you root for her, Adam and everyone just as much as their inspirations from the 1980's!
Giving credit where it's due!
