Description I dunno anything about birds but this one was extremely cheeky. Kept attacking me and me dog, I guess we were maybe a bit to close to the nest or something. Anyone know what it is ? xx

When I was a lad, I used to see huge flocks of Lapwing Vanellus vanellus but now, 60yrs on, I'm lucky to see a few. It's listed in the UK, on the RED List.

yea, its a shame that so many species are getting so close to extinction, not only birds but all sort of animals. Mind you.. the way politics are going we will be on the extinction list soon enough... maybe not soon enough. xx

There's one species, or sub-species that needs culling to extinction Homo s. fucitalus
That way, the main species, Homo sapiens, has a good chance of cleaning up the mess for future generations.

many different types of that particular species, but yea.... without most of them a homo sapien might stand a chance. Although ... some of that species is not always as human as we would like them to be. xx

That's why they're a Sub-Species

We have a cousin of the bird here called a killdere. Not a pretty as this male lapwing but the same behavoir. The female kildere will act wounded to get you to pursue her away from her nest.

i think this is the kievit, or as it is known outside holland the Vanellus vanellus, or Northern Lapwing
been looking to get a shot of these cheeky birds myself, love their erratic flight patterns aswell!!
they tend to be very protective of their nests, which can be found in the grasslands
