When I was a lad, I used to see huge flocks of Lapwing Vanellus vanellus but now, 60yrs on, I'm lucky to see a few. It's listed in the UK, on the RED List.

yea, its a shame that so many species are getting so close to extinction, not only birds but all sort of animals. Mind you.. the way politics are going we will be on the extinction list soon enough... maybe not soon enough. xx

There's one species, or sub-species that needs culling to extinction Homo s. fucitalus
That way, the main species, Homo sapiens, has a good chance of cleaning up the mess for future generations.

many different types of that particular species, but yea.... without most of them a homo sapien might stand a chance. Although ... some of that species is not always as human as we would like them to be. xx

Known as a peewit up here. The coolurs are fabulous when you get close to them.

We have a cousin of the bird here called a killdere. Not a pretty as this male lapwing but the same behavoir. The female kildere will act wounded to get you to pursue her away from her nest.
