Well, I always had this chip on my shoulder about using visual references for what ever reason I don't know. I realized that there are times where references are absolutely necessary in art. I always liked plague masks but I never drew them. I finally broke down and decided I had to at least use one reference. So I did. I used a plague mask as a reference for one drawing, which is the first I submitted. After that I decided to see if I could draw another without reference. It worked for the most part. So I went on to do another. After that I just figured I'd link them all via the poem. It just seemed right.

The uniform shading really makes this, dead on contrast, not too dark not too light, I love it.
The design is impressive too, very daunting.
