Description Illustration for the World of Ice and Fire. Β This was composed as a 9X12 illustration, but I had to add a few inches on the left to bleed onto the previous page. Β I almost cropped it for online viewing but I like dat tail

Looking at that tail can understand why an adult's dragon only the eyes were vulnerable!Β Bet on the chest or belly scales were the size of a large dinner platter!!

Yes, I recognize this picture. I have A World of Ice and Fire at home and the illustrations of the Targaryens and their dragons are absolutely stunning. This is no exception, except in the way that it is. Beautiful stuff, I love it! And yes, Caraxes' tail steals the show

How do you envision such things? This is accurate in almost every way I can judge. Perspective, lighting, you even simulated subsurface scattering on the teeth of the dragon. Furthermore, this is almost as if a photographer was standing in your brain and found the most pleasing area to stand, and where to capture interesting elements.

Really though, I want to know how you plan this kind of shit.

Prince Daemon Targaryen offering up his brother King Viserys I the crown of conquerors.

Viserys had named his daughter Rhaenyra, the Realm's Delight, his heir over his brother, despite laws of succession demanding male over female, and so Daemon, frustrated with the choice of succession, set out to carve his own kingdom. When he proclaimed himself King of the Narrow Sea, Viserys allowed Daemon to keep the crown and title if it "kept him out of trouble". During a tourney two years later, Daemon returned and offered up his crown as a token of fealty. Viserys welcomed him gladly; as for all the turmoil between them, he truly loved his brother. A rough summary.

Caraxes, Daemon's dragon, would fight to the death with Vhagar, the last of Aegon the Conqeror's three dragons, decades later in the Dance of the Dragons. Neither dragon survived.
