I like how Kishimoto kinda worked with the concept of Isonade, mainly just that the hook-idea was kept, not on Isobu himself but in his jinchuriki, Yagura's staff has a hooked end, which is a cool detail.

congratulation, you got folklore right! Thats rare, especially regarding this so called "legend of the bijuu" everyone keep referencing.
I bet kishimoto will make all real bijuu completly different from the legend just to make it false. heck, thats what happenned with hachibi

I really like this illustration alot! I love how you did the waves, clouds, boat- everything! I've been visiting your obakemono.com site for years, it's awesome reference whenever I'm looking for a particular yokai description/illustration. ^_^

Is this meant to allude to Hokusai in any way, shape, form, etc? Anyway, I like it! I like the waves and how this shark just comes on by and the people are all, like, no, not that, anything but that!

By which I mean I do read Japanese folklore, wherein the Isonade is a large fish-like monster with a single hook-covered tail. The creature in Naruto is completely unrelated to it. There is also no "Legend of the Tailed Beasts", sorry, it was made up by fans.

When I first saw this picture, I first thought of the old Great Wave Hokusai, and I always felt bad for those sailors. But this just makes me laugh, although maybe I should feel even worse for these poor fellows? Hehe, terrific job, though, I love the expressions and the mythology of the piece.

I must have to rewatch Naruto because I am not recognizing why I am supposed to be shocked at so many of your pieces. I still like them though.
