Description
This is the Friendship Garden in Balboa Park , San Diego. Balboa Park was the site of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition to commemorate the construction of the Panama Canal or something back when they did awesome things like Worlds Fairs and Expositions. Meet me in St. Louis Louis etc. The architecture is a sort of Aztec-Spanish-Rococco mix that is just sublime. It’s huge, 1200 acres, and right next to the San Diego Zoo, so don’t get eaten by the tigers. Great place to visit and my favorite spot in San Diego bar none.
Xander probably has an Enmity Garden somewhere. A Garden of Hate. Lots of black orchids and flowers that when you give them in bouquets they mean ‘spite’ or something.

THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING LIST! ooh wow, basil is hate? lemme hate my way into some pesto...interesting how many of these plants are actually in my yard...mustard, thistle, redbud, lavender, lichen, columbine, blackberry, nettle...if I add the flowers it'll be gorgeous! thank you!

Ah more flowers, I like flowers. Quite a lot of depth to this painting despite being a rare up close scene. My brother lived up the road from Balboa Park and when I visited we'd drive past several time but never stopped in. Now I'm disappointed.

I love how lively and vibrant everything seems in this piece. I especially love the gentle touch of the sunlight drifting through the foliage onto the water and rock below. You've certainly captured a remarkable bit of scenery in your art. I certainly shall have to visit the "Friendship Garden" on my next adventure.
