Description
The Marin Headlands, where do I start with this one? This is one of the most mysterious places in the entire Bay Area. I’ll let you pick and choose:
Prehistoric stone “wall” constructions (they’re about 12” high so it’s not really a fence, just a marking) that are 800 feet long: www.tamdistrict.org/drake/scie…These are part of the ever mysterious and extensive East Bay Walls, which predate all known western contact with the area and were far beyond the capabilities of the native population. I have stood on these on Mission Peak and Point Reyes, the surveying job to lay these is incredibly precise and the effort that it would have taken to build must have been an immense project involving many people.
The wall has standing stones placed around it: www.chargedbarticle.org/standi… Lots of photos and story in that link.
There’s the old sinister history of the Trailside Killer: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Ca… He is still alive.
There’s been a whole pack of recent female deaths in the area:2014: yourslownewsday.com/dont-freak… 2017: www.nbcbayarea.com/investigati…
Oh and bigfoot. You figured on that one right? Here’s a recount of a 1980 SF Chronicle article about two police officers who chased an unidentified strange critter through the woods in this same area: mysterious-sf.blogspot.com/200… The author of the blog recounts that once when he was hiking the area, he saw a house with a life-sized statue of Bigfoot in the window.
That’s Mt. Tamalpais in the background of the painting, the highest peak in the Marin range. Tamalpais is said to mean ‘sleeping maiden’ in the local Miwok language. And by ‘sleeping’, they meant permanently. The Miwok wouldn’t go near the place, it was haunted. The legend is that the North American continent is carried on the back of a turtle, and that the mouth of the turtle is the San Francisco Bay, the right eye is Mt. Tamalpais, and the left eye is the famous and sinister Mt. Diabolo.
Which would put Eynhallow at the tip of the snapping snout. Sharks are biting out there. Or at least grinning like madmen.

It makes me wish I could visit the place. And we've had Bigfoot sightings here, too.

What type of energy did you feel standing there? What do you believe?
Thank you for being my weekly history lesson.
I don't take it for granted that it takes time for you to research and write about all these places.
I love learning something new and look forward to it.
