I can't say why but clicking the link in anticipation of your landscape and when this image appeared an incredible calm came over me. I don't know what it is. I don't feel it is one of your most beautiful landscapes nor the best compositions nor having the most emotion. Although it is quite good on all those fronts. Perhaps it is the sky and sea are calm and all is stable and bright unlike the actual landscape if I understand.
I can't wait to see Hearst Castle. I was there once near closing time. We could only hang around in the lot below, look up at it and eat food poisoning hot dogs. I was sick all the way back to San Francisco.

It's the foreground....I updated it with fresh eyes to keep the shadow separation, then it works a bit better. Orange is one of my favorite colors, but it's a hard sell to a lot of people too. Just look at how well the Core logo was received. Hearst is well worth the visit!

I thing I see what you mean. It looks oddly... peculiarly still. I don't know. I feel like there's just the wind, nothing more... Maybe that's what created the impression?

How long did you take for this painting? Do you always take pictures and then turn them into a painting?

Thank you! well...truth be told, I just keep posting one every week, good or bad and move from there and the practice has really helped me improve. So I keep trying all kinds of different and new things and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but each time I learn something.

I love this! You definitely are great at making landscapes. Painting and drawing them is like making your own little world, yeah? At least, that’s how I see it when I sketch a scenic view. Mine are nowhere near as beautiful though! Good job!

Liking the transition from warm colours to dusky coolness in the background.

Thank you! I don't work on these diffuse lighting situations as much as I should. I'm still not super happy with that transition but I'm getting there.
