Description just a doodle to show everyone i;m not dead lolz

i've had a strange recent obsession with parasaurs recently, and random spazzes of hatred for carnivorous creatures, even tho i know its what they must do to survive. its a balance, i understand everything, but some carnivores take killing to the extreme like hyenas, who eat their victims alive, or lions, who kill everything they see except for their own kind. i also went to a fossil exhibit today, and the only animals they had on display were carnivorous therapods. talk about biased. oh and i realized, my favorite dinosaur is citipati <3
they're oviraptors that may have been omnivores, or even pure herbivore

also, i;ve noticed humans are oddly obsessed with carnivores, and all the rpg groups i've looked into only offer carnivorous creatures. just look at feralhearts, lion hyena cheetah leopard dragon wolf and hardly ever does one see a deer, or a bird on their.

i wonder if people will stop and think, they love all of these meat eating animals, but if they were within pouncing distance, they wouldnt like them so much. and dont give me that 'respect for their power and grace' crap, thats not what i'm talking about. i would much rather be around peaceful animals than killers.

one last thing, i've been going through a brutal art block, just so discouraged. i have no active watchers and get little feedback, but the ones i do get feedback from i reply to every time <3 (you all know who i'm talking about)
sorry i've been inactive, its summer and i should be posting like crazy! but i'm so discouraged and when i think about drawing, i just feel awful. all of my drawings have been looking like crap, and this was the only one worthy of posting out of like, no joke, 15 attempts..

I really like this! It's very original and the colors are really nice! The dinosaur is well done and lifelike. the sketchiness creates some motion and the shading is great. maybe if you added some backlighting to the places where the light is directly on the dinosaur it would give it a sort of magical look? thought you should probably test it to make sure it doesn't look strange.

One thing I suggest is maybe working on the middle-ground (water, rock and grass) more because it seems a bit off, and maybe adding a few fuzzy silhouettes of other dinosaurs in the BG?

Great job keep it up!

that sketchiness was an accident lolz, but thanks, it was prolly a good accident :3
about the lighting, i wanted it to look like he was under the shade of the trees, so i put a bit of a blueish glow on her where the white from behind the trees was, like the area on her face. but since that log is blindingly bright, maybe it should have some backlighting on the dino!
oh yeah, dem rocks are a menace
i wanted to make a stream, so i put a bunch of white, but i dont know how streams work so i was just like blah
thanks for your awesome critique tina! i never get them so i will relish this one like a piece of beef jerky '3'

This is a cool drawing! I must disagree on one thing that you are talking about in your description. Herbivorous animals are not always peaceful: if you think about the big 5 most dangerous animals in Africa, there is 3 herbivores (elephant, rhino, cape buffalo) and 2 carnivores (lion, leopard) in there.

CheeTree In reply to Wintella [2012-07-19 15:27:15 +0000 UTC]

yeah, it caries with the individual, but most of the time herbivores are kind animals. even carnivores can be peaceful! thats why i like cheetahs so much because they are hardly ever aggressive. in fact, two male cheetahs found a baby impala and snuggled it and groomed it and then let it go! it was amazing, theres pictures on the internet of it, i forgot the link though

I thinks I have them in my computer You know what, somehow, I think that there was never been a recorded case of male cheetahs killing the young cubs of a female that they wanted to mate with. I always hear that they might do it, but never saw this on any documentary about cheetahs that I saw. And I watched a lot of them! But I saw some killings of lion cubs (that happens quite often), tigers, leopards and even in domestic cats in feral colonies.

yeah that reminds me! i saw a documentary of a coalition of male cheetahs who found a lost cub, they hissed at her but didnt dare scratch or bite. The mom came back too and was sent on her way :]

its mostly use of different layers, fuzzy select tool, and fluffy brushes to color like this, i use gimp and its really easy once you get the hang of it. actually there is no hang of it, its really easy in the first place once you n=know the secrets! i cant even explain it.

Carnivores are predators, which means they have to employ hunting skill/strategy. Herbivores react to their environment -- predators set the stage. This is why I prefer omnivores -- best of both worlds. They hunt when necessary or desired, and graze when they are so inclined. I think it is a good thing that you are drawing a variety of animal life -- keep it up.

thanks! i still prefer herbivores, you can totally trust them. unless its a territorial male cow or something, then you have to watch out!

This is beautiful! I love the calm green and yellow tones you've used in this piece.
And Parasaurs are gorgeous, they've always been one of my favourite dinosaurs!

mine too! theyre so badass, they can fight of predators well, and could have had their own simple language with that horn that was hollow so it could make a variety of sounds. like elephants! they were also pretty smart too. and pretty :3

Wingsonde In reply to CheeTree [2012-06-26 02:33:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. They seem like gentle creatures, but they're so badass. I love the horns on their heads, so beautiful!

Taiyenne [2012-06-25 07:29:57 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you on humans liking carnivores...no Idea why though. I guess they seem 'strong'? and I guess to humans their lives must seem better than the life of a prey animal because they don't have to constantly watch to see if their being hunter (although they have to watch a lot of other things)

I'll do a critique later but I have to go now
