Are you looking for advice specific to vectoring, or just in general?

It's actually pretty tricky coming up with an original pony hairstyle that looks decent. I think for my Limestone Pie, Marble Pie, and Doctor vectors, each went through about 2-3 versions each before I found something I was happy with.

You have to keep in mind that a pony's hair is essentially a narrow stripe that goes from their forehead to the lower back of their neck. It's just that some have the hair styled to be more human-like. For these Crystal War models especially, they will likely be skipping most of the styling and going with something utilitarian or more unkempt, so I tried to keep the hair relatively short and stiff.

The Doctor's hair in his normal look has some overlapping V-shaped elements within it if you look at it closely. I kept similar elements in this version and basically reversed it from backward-swept spikes to forward-swept. The goggles also help to hide his hairline and improve the look.
