Description
This is a goofy idea I had the other week... what if Thorn grew out his fur? And honestly I think it's a good look for the big guy! He used to be mainly inspired by capybara's and horses (Minus the massive claws/teeth) but I might go into a bit more tiger-like or bear-like direction for him. Not entirely sure but making his design a little more... inviting would be nice. Of course, he's nt a very inviting person but his design certainly does push it a few notches up.

"the razor" is a pretty funny way of putting his entire character tbh, wanting to shave his fur and only really caring about showing strength rather than valuing his health. Sums up who he is pretty well.

Douser is just about the only person he actually listens to and respects. Which is the only reason he's obliging to her concerns and not shaving, if it were anyone else throwing away his razor they'd receive a broken nose as compensation!

I like to imagine this taking place the winter directly after Reign of the Wooded Devil , Douser realizing "Wait, does this guy actually never shave his fur?" And, after talking about it with him realizes she's gonna have to take matters into her own hands XD

I'm sure she, being a creature with almost no hair just assumes how much of an advantage fur would be and doesn't get why Thorn doesn't use his. That difference in species is something I've never really explored but its pretty fun!

It was also cool exploring the significance of Thorns armour, something I don't really focus on much. In Ragolinian culture armour is meant to symbolize strength, stability, and a willingness to protect others. More armour with detailed features shows commitment to these values. And since he has pretty detailed armour compared to other members of his family, armour is incredibly significant to him (When Rose stopped wearing armour is displays that he no longer has those values and shouldn't be treated like a part of that society) the only time a mans ever to remove his armour is when sleeping, for pretty obvious reasons but also to symbolize the vulnerability of sleep, and that they feel safe around anyone they share a sleeping space with--its considered rude to wear armour while sleeping. So, besides that it would be super offensive for him to take off his armour. (which is one of the reasons why this image isn't canon)

Wanted this post to be simpler but it STILL took me several hours to make. I simplified it with things like using one colour for the soft shading, and choosing to not make the background very detailed. Wanted the designs to be mostly the same but I did decide to change up how I stylize Thorn a bit.
