Name:
Eliza Stendahl
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Date of Birth: 09/15
Height: 5'6" - 167 cm
Nationality: American (Swedish/Italian mix)

Degree: Vocals
Year: 2nd
Elective: Symphonic Orchestra

Personality:

Hard-working + Meticulous + Dramatic + Ambitious + Thoughtful
Anxious - Critical - Childish - Narrow-minded - Regretful

Eliza can be a bit of a quirky individual upon a first meeting.  With a long and unfortunately influential history in the theater, she's picked up a number of traits that aren't the most appealing.  Though she'll introduce herself with a composed aura, her personality will very easily degrade into having more of an immature nature.  She can be dramatic to a fault, giving her the ability to be a great actress and a horrible friend.  Her lies are on point, but her melodramatic personality can leave much to be desired.  As interesting as it is to have such a character in the room, even the smallest inconvenience can set her off down a path of doubt.  She tends to look back on both her words and her actions, replaying the day in her head until she is almost positive there is nothing left to pick apart.  When things go wrong, it takes some time for her to stand back on her own two feet and rise to the occasion.

Despite these setbacks, Eliza is still a very studious individual.  She is incredibly dedicated to her work and puts her future above all else.  Her motivation in the music world comes second to none, and as such she has an easy time focusing entirely on achieving her goals.  She knows how to pace herself and where her faults lie and will come back to them once she knows she is ready to tackle them head-on.  Though she can be childish at times, her immature side can easily be overcome by her desire to succeed and she will go to great lengths to achieve what her heart tells her to.  She has an incredibly romanticized view of music which allows her passion to reach unparalleled levels as long as she is not interrupted by the painstaking reality of failure.

From a young age, Eliza has suffered from terrible stage fright.  Though she's been able to move past a large part of it in recent years, she still has trouble during some performances.  Her hands will shake when she's at her lowest point, leading to her decision to pursue vocal performances over instrumental.  She has a very strong understanding of what her body can do and trusts her voice above all else to succeed, even when the rest of her body has failed.

Bio:

TL;DR Young lady from musical background grows up with a very idealized concept of what music is before learning about the pressures of the industry.  After some internal conflict, she's decided to focus entirely on music for her future, and hope for the best!

As the youngest child of an Off-Broadway actor and a young musician, Eliza grew up in a world surrounded by big lights and bigger sounds.  From a young age she was immersed in a very glorified version of reality, spending the majority of her time following her parents to rehearsals and opening nights.  With little idea of how society outside of the theater worked, her views of the world became very small, and the romanticized stories on stage left her yearning for that same feelings within herself.  It may have been silly to many, but for Eliza it seemed that everything could be solved with a signature number and a few honest feelings.

As Eliza grew older, the coldness of the world began to creep into her mind.  Once she started middle school, the fact remained that the plays she watched were nowhere near what school was about.  She hid a large part of her musical background from her classmates, instead delving into much more common topics of conversation.  Her parents continued their careers as long as they could, but even those lights began to dim.  Towards the end of her middle school years, her father's career began to fade and she felt the pressures that came with being a performer.  There was a sudden realization that hit her head-on as the shows decreased, and while both her parents were still working artists, her idealized views of the stage became just a dream.  For the first time in her life, it was difficult to comprehend that perhaps her family had fallen out of the grace and beauty that music provided and into something much more serious.

Feeling caught between pursuing the fantastical world she'd grown to love and the much safer, more stable future she could rely on, Eliza found herself entering high school with a whirlwind of emotions.  She spent the majority of her time focusing on her studies, allowing herself to always have that back-up if she chose to turn away from the light.  Nevertheless, her love of music kept her anchored to her lessons until finally she decided to dedicate herself solely to that.  Still keeping her grades at a manageable level, Eliza threw herself into her vocal studies, commuting most days of the week for private training.  Her parents, understanding her passions, helped as much as they could until graduation day.

With years of lessons and training under her belt, Eliza applied for a number of local schools.  She ended up spending two years at Julliard majoring in Vocals and Opera before her parents booked a new job overseas.  Eager to stay close to her family, the young singer packed her bags and followed them to London, where she enrolled in Clefford Conservatory and continue on the path of achieving the spotlight she always dreamed of.

Extra:

  • She is a huge fan of Barbra Streissand, along with a handful of other actresses.  Her parents own a number of their albums that she listens to on her days off.
  • Though her training originally focused primarily on opera, she's tried her best to expand into becoming a more well-rounded individual.
  • She is very strict with her scheduling.  She leaves a lot of break time for herself and very rarely pushes her limits.  She's well aware that one risky performance could end her career entirely and so she makes sure to always compensate for the training she puts in.
  • She collects playwrights and has a huge binder full of them that she keeps under her bed.  Anyone that visits her is welcome to take a look!
  • Her family lives off of take-out and quick meals so she's not used to anything home-cooked.  She'd rather order somewhere than try to prepare something herself.
  • Many of her performance outfits are hand-me-downs.  She's been saving up to invest in a nice, new wardrobe but her mother's clothes work just fine for her tastes.
  • She is definitely the type to sing in the shower unironically.  Also the type to put on a mini performance in public with others for fun.
  • She has an older sister who teaches music lessons back in the States to young kids.  She's not very close to her sister due to quite a large age gap, but she still calls her regularly!
Likes & Dislikes:

Likes+ Old movies, especially any with a musical number involved.  Also anything in the sci-fi genre.
+ Theater
+ Busy streets
+ Beautiful architecture, especially rooms that are made to amplify the music performed in them.
+ Singing (of course)
+ Big Dogs
+ Bullet Journals (organizational materials mostly)

Dislikes - Rainy weather, or being damp in general.
- Complete silence.  Even a little murmuring in the crowd is easier on her heart than no talking at all.
- Being overlooked or mistreated
- Interruptions
- Texting
- Movie theater popcorn
- Ignorant individuals

Favorite Pieces:
All I Ask of You - Phantom of the Opera
Piano Sonata No. 16 in C Major. Particularly the First Movement.
Clair de Lune - Claude Debussy
Swan Lake Waltz - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Ave Maria

Despite her interest in theater, much of her training has stemmed from both classical pieces and opera.  She has some minor experience with playing piano, though due to her shaking hands she prefers listening over playing.  She prefers whimsical pieces with a feeling of passion, though her vocal preferences always lean towards heavier pieces.  She takes her training very seriously and has developed her own methods after many years of practice.  Her strengths lie in her stamina over her range.  Eliza would consider herself to be a natural soprano, though she will try her best to perform lower ranges.

Something that wasn't listed was pieces from Hello, Dolly!  She is a huge fan of the musical pieces from it, though it's not something she's often had the chance to sing.

Schedule: TBA

Relationships:
  • Her immediate family consists of her mother, father, and older sister.
  • Nasim Shah - High school friend and fellow youtuber.  Met him through the power of music and the internet, though this will be the first time they've seen each other in person.
  • Kamil Antonov - High school friend and fellow youtuber.  Another one of her internet friends, though he lived only a few hours away from her before leaving for Clefford.
