Seriously, this annoys me.Just because you hate the character, that doesn't give you the right to make them out of character.
Like come on!
Under which circumstance would Kratos Aurion wear a pink tutu?
What logical reason would explain why Atoli jump off a cliff for fun?
Who said that Azula would dye her hair green?
What makes you think Gary Oak would put his hair in pink ribbons?
And why would Hao Asakura wear pink frilly dresses?
I know you hate them.
We all do.
But you don't have the right to make them do things they wouldn't.
The only people with that right is the person who created those characters.

Of course, you get fanon insisting itβs TOTALLY in-character for certain characters to be perverts or rapists when itβs not, which makes it even worse...

Agreed. Just because you hate or don't care about a character doesn't mean you should make them look worse. I could care less about the crossdressing thing, but I hate it when someone takes a character who's mildy cold and make them flat out abusive, or a character who's very demure and oversexualise them (especially if they're underaged). Β I know this one person in the Gravitation fandom who completely hates Mika Seguchi, and it doesn't help that she ships herself with Tohma (Mika's husband). In fact, this person would call her a bitchy, money hungry whore and portray her as such, even though she wasn't the slightest bit whorish or greedy in canon. Ironically enough, said person would sexualize her self-insert constantly and gave her no real personality outside of being Tohma's sex toy, yet she still had the gall to call Mika a whore. I've seen a lot of Gravitation fans do this to Ayaka and the other girls as well, and it's not just the insane yaoi ones that behave this way;half the time, the self-inserts pull this crap too. Β Even in other fandoms, I've seen this nonsense happen a lot, especially with crossover ships and self-inserts. In the CatDog fandom, Β there were several people who always shipped either Cat or Dog with either their self-inserts or some random anime girl (yes, that's a thing), and they would often bash the canon girls like Lola, Shriek, and Lorraine and portray them horribly in order to make their ships or self-inserts look good. Β If you're gonna put a character you hate in something, either portray them correctly (or a little better than they are in canon at least), or don't bother. You're especially dumb if you do this to make your ship or FCs look good.

This is a huge problem in Hetalia fanfics. Prussia is depicted as a pervert, even though it was stated in canon that he is just as awkward as his younger brother [Germany] with women. America is overly stupid for not reason, even though in canon he was shown to be smart. Hungary always hits people with frying pans, even though she only did that once or twice in the comics.
And don't get me started on Poland.

Dear Smash fantards
Why would Shulk EVER rob a bank or become a drug dealer? He is a good-hearted hero (Alvis even confirmed this) who risks his own life to save people he's JUST met. Hell he even showed Mumkhar, the guy who 'killed' his girlfriend mercy.
He saved lives
He's a kind person
So WHY would he do those awful things?
This is one of the reasons I don't want Shulk to be in Smash and the MAIN reason I hate the smash fandom

There is this Character named Flamzer who is paranoid, saftey-obsessed, and acts like a mother to his tribemates, but the fans see him as a damsel in distress and only exists to be cute to his two "boyfriends" that they constantly ship him with. (the "boyfriends" are Vampos and Niksput, who they ALSO make them out of character)
They Make Vampos a Psychopathic Yandere guy who would destroy anyone who cheats on Flamzer, in reality, Is just some relaxed dude, and that's all to him.Β
And They make Niksput some evil Jerk who flirts with flamzer right in front of vampos. In relaity, he is the stereotypic cool guy who is really dimwitted.
Do you know what's ALSO funny about this. Vampos and flamzer haven't interacted exepct making eye-contact ONCE (everyone went bonkers over it too), and they also say Niksput stole Flamzer from Vampos when Niksput actually met Flamzer FIRST.

I hate it when sweet, innocent characters are turned into bloodthirsty killers in fanfics.
I also hate it when diabolical villains are turned into cute, sappy characters that make you want to get checked for diabetes.
And while I don't mind it if you develop a minor character through fanfic as long as you stick to the little evidence you have about what its personality might be like. I do that myself. For example, if you see a character wearing a colorful flowery print dress, a sun hat, and a big smile, you don't make her an emo hipster or whatever you call them.

I have a stamp like this. People kept telling me doing this is a form of "flattery" or "appreciation" to the writer. I can't imagine any writers that would want their characters so...out of their character.
Some fanfiction is fun, and even in some cases good, but most have gotten to the extent where it's not even remotely the same character or story anymore. They just do whatever the crap they want with characters that don't belong to them. Some changes are fine, but people just seem to develop a completely unrelated story.
