Please full view for all the detailing!Well... this has been a very intense piece to make today! It's taken just under 15 hours to do on my deskcam.
My 4th Gasmask Angel in my series and also my battle piece versus =ssst
The challenge: to create a gasmask angel and the gasmask must be reference free. In this case, both of mine are.
Her entry:
Gasmask angels are all about life after the world coming to an end due to how we treat the planet... the gasmasks serve a normal purpose, the wings are just cos I love angel wings... until possibly this piece.
This vector and it is 100% vector (I had people watching me to prove it!), are how children would be brought up. Parents are a thing of the past and they are all monitored by ankle tracking tags... but that doesn't necessarily keep them safe.
With regards to the gasmasks, I've went for a brass sort of theme and the teddy bear is also wearing one. This is because "they" didn't want children feeling so self conscious and insecure about wearing masks... if their toys wore them also, then they might find comfort in not being the only ones.
Regardless of these things, children are still left to fend for themselves on the streets and perhaps their own form of defense is their angel wings.

Wow. The detail on the bear and the texturing of her skin really throw me for a loop. Does not look like vector at all, which is an incredible feat. And the heart motifs just kill me

I like pushing vector like this and making it seem not as much like vector.

i find the atmosphere in this piece the most striking. it is dangerous and depressing, yet there seems to be hope

The concept is so touching and beautiful. I love your detailing and your way of coloring/illustrating.. as if it's a book illustration or something. I can't really explain what it is.

This is soooooo awesome!! Really wonderful job on this...I've been watching the WIP's and would have loved to see you do this live, but didn't get that chance. When I saw this finished with the shadow of the hand, it took my breath away! The shadow makes her seem even smaller and more vulnerable, although the gasmasks do that by themselves. The hand just added that extra wallop of OMG! Fantast job, I'm always impressed with your work

Thank you so much for allowing us to watch you work today. It was really amazing to see this come into being through the course of the day, and the final result is simply fantastic. I love all the detail you put into this, I think they do all matter, you can totally see the stitching on the dress. It wouldn't be the same without that! Love the concept, too.

Awesome job, Shar! This series is getting better and better each round! This piece has a great concept and the coloring and shading is just so wonderful. The masks are the best part for me. Overall it's a very "rich" piece with more details and depth!

This is just jawdropping fantastic. After watching you work on it live, and seeing the huge amount of detail that you put into it has just blown me away. Not only the skill and idea, but the patience you have for your art is outstanding.
I love the little details, the ankle strap, the stuffing on the bear, and of course the hearts on the mask, they all tie in wonderfully.
