this is a commissioned picture for , of his character the legendary lion. as the character is this great big terrifying thing with muscles and TEETH, i thought the becca take on it would obviously have to be much cuter.
and inspiration of inspirations, my kitten decided to start licking his behind right before me as i puzzled over how to draw this character.
the pose and facial expression pretty much sums up kittens, so i thought it'd go nicely in this picture.

(i just hope you like it. ^.^;; i found it hillarious to draw!)

the background was taken from a free stock photo website that doesn't ask to be linked to, so nyah.
i wish i had a bit more time to work on this, but my computer time at uni is limited. still, didn't turn out too badly!

Awww! Reminds me of my own kitty at home. She was self-conscious about licking herself in public.

Although a fan-character, why does this cat remind me of someone... Someone in a really, really old anime... I can't remember it, though.

i didn't design the cat, you'd have to ask his creator if he was inspired by any anime characters. ^^

Ah, okay. I've been trying all night to figure out the name of the anime with a cat-beast similar to that, but to no avail. I can't even remember the name of the cat-beast.

Nah, I know it's not that one. All I can remember about this old anime is that... it came on late at night after Tenchi Muyo (this was before Cartoon Network got Tenchi) and it was about this boy who found this unconscious and almost dead alien cat-beast thing one night. (The cat had similar markings to this fan-kitty ) The boy saved his life, therefore... creating an uneasy bond with it. I say uneasy because the cat-beast wanted to kill and eat the boy for the entire show, but it couldn't, due to the bond. It was a very strange anime.

ohh..! i know what you mean, i read some of the comic online the other week!
the name is somthing like 'ushtio and tora'. you're right, he did have a big mane of fur like this character does! ^^

i'm very sure it had an anime, i saw an article on it like.. back in the 90s in some manga and anime magazine. there were some screenshots and all. ^^

ahh, the days before anime was on DVD, before it was on tv (in america and extra channels in the UK). no demented fangirls and boys~

I'm pretty sure it was. This was back when I had satellite and I got some weird, but interesting channels, one of them was this station that played a bunch of stuff from Japan.

I miss those days when anime was obscure. (Never thought I'd say that... )

i only ever had the usual 5 UK channels. the only anime that really got played was card capers, sonic X , pokemon and digimon. before that, anime was something that sometimes got played at 2am, or was recorded not so legally onto tape and copied and shared around.

that's because he HAS been caught in the act. you never seen the look a cat gives you if you interrupt 'em when they're trying to clean themselves? they either look mildly annoyed, or suprised.

Yeah, it is rather hilarious!
It kind of reminds me of that moment in Shrek 2. If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about - if you haven't, go and see it. It's well worth your time.
