The one thing that bugs me the most about Miko, is the fact that she is the main female character of the group of humans, and yet her personality and reckless behaviour just makes her so unlikable. The amount of times she's put herself and others in danger is infuriating, and her hyperactive and reckless behaviour is tiresome. I kind of wish that she was more responsible like Jack, but has her own flare in a way that was more tolerable. If you compare her to Jack, who is pretty much the main human, AND he's a boy (typical to have a male protagonist in an action/adventure show), you will see that the writers spent wayyy more time developing his personality and made him a more important character. Even Raf is seen as the helpful and useful, but when it comes to Miko, it just feels like she is there to fill in a quota. It would be nice if there were more females overall in this series, maybe add more female Autobots besides Arcee that are competent and well written, then maybe this show would be even more enjoyable. But it just seems that when it comes to female characters in an action/adventure show, they are almost always just a love interest or written to be obnoxious, boy crazy, ditsy, or stereotypical. But enough ranting, I very much enjoyed watching Miko get a wake up call when Bulkhead got seriously injured, and it was nice seeing her team up with WheelJack. I think I'm done.
Edit: I forgot to compliment you on a job well done for drawing the awesome Ratchet. Gosh, I love him so much! XD

Okay honestly if you met the autobots and had ADHD you'd be a complete and utter liar if you said you wouldn't do half the things she does!! Honestly I love Miko she is literally me except Japanese and while I do love metal I like all most other types of music too...other than rap. Miko is the dreamer and embodies our inner child (bravery without fear this is pretty much what I was like when younger never listening when told to stay somewhere and always wanting to be apart of everything!) while Jack is the guy no one likes because he's always a stick in the mud...while more mature he doesn't truly embody a teenage boy. He kind acts more like an adult which some may think makes him a better character. But to me he contributes very little...he's boring to watch he doesn't live in the moment, which if you're a human with an auto bot guardian wouldn't you also throw caution to the wind to just explore and learn?

How to improve Miko's Character.
>Make her from California, sent away from the big city life to live with her uncle because of some reason. Like she did something for attention but it backfired on her so bad.
>She tries again, with the Autobots, after trying so hard for 35+ episodes she realizes that perhaps she should stop thinking so selfishly.
>Becomes useful and strong instead of annoying, vapid, and occasionally do something "okay".
>You know, characters with personality growth. Like people! When stressful things happen to people, they change, they can't help it.
>I might like her then.

All of those are very, very good points. It's a pity that Hasbro or the writers of the show don't seem to take notice of it, however... it'd save them, and the fans, a LOT of grief when it comes to Miko.
She seemed alright in "New Recruit", as she was trying to curb her enthusiasm for Bulkhead's sake, but I guess it's too early to see if the events REALLY changed her or not. She hasn't had much important screentime to be able to judge that yet, though I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I hate her anyways and less screentime for her is more screentime for the Autobots or Decepticons... which is always a plus for me.

chibigingi In reply to Lucy300 [2012-08-22 22:59:32 +0000 UTC]
See, I'm kind of that way too. Even though I know I'll rage hard when/if it happens, so long as some good development comes out of it and it's not just a wasted death, I'll eventually get over it. The main reason why I haven't gotten over Breakdown's death is because we haven't see where it leads to -yet-... and they're taking their sweet ass time getting there. Or maybe I'm just impatient, lol!
Either way, I, too, long to know the history behind Bulkhead and Breakdown... one does not bring up a history and them never explain it. Well, one with good writing skills, anyway.

How about a bit of both? xD
But yeah they're taking their time not just with Breakdown but with the SynthEnergon to (subject keeps bothering to no end)
My 'theory' is that BD was a Wrecker but choose to join the Decepticons for some reason *cofcofKOcofcof*.Maybe it's a little cliche but it'll be a good background for Bulk and BD's "history"

chibigingi In reply to Lucy300 [2012-08-22 23:54:56 +0000 UTC]
It can always be a bit of both when it's about me. XD
That makes two of us with the SynthEnergon, as well as many others. Hasbro, we're not going to forget that, so whenever you feel like picking up that plot point again, we'll be waiting. Impatiently. XD
And yeah, that seems like a good theory. I suppose one day we shall see, or not, and we'll be all the sadder. Guess we can have fanon, when canon has failed us.

I can understand that her character, as of this time, hasn't been as significantly developed as say, Jack has. I don't personally see that as a reason to hate her. I blame the writers for their underuse of her character more than anything else. Going by first 'Tunnel Vision', we really start to see a change in her and by 'Hurt', I think we really will see some changes/growth in her character.

chibigingi In reply to LadySuzaku [2012-08-22 22:19:04 +0000 UTC]
I suppose, I just don't like that archtype she's following. The loud, hyperactive, rulebreaker for the sake of breaking rules, squee-happy but doesn't really contribute much as far as the plot goes besides to cater to a certain group of fans. I get -why- she was put into the episode of "Tunnel Vision" but did her presence really change much? For someone who knew tunnel/subway systems, she didn't really do that much navigating through the tunnels, and knowing Jack, he might have told Vogel the truth eventually, even without her pressuring him. When we could have had more action involving Knock Out, Arcee, Bumblebee and the Insecticon, we had to sit through her 'I don't want to feel useless or play second fiddle to Jack' spiel, and honestly, as far as character development goes, that IS a step up for her, but I still don't really care for her.
If after "Hurt" and she goes back to being the same loud, run into danger without thought or care to anyone else's safety self, then I'll be angry with the writers for dropping the ball with her. Her maturing and finding some use to the Autobots (besides dragging the children into the plot or rocking out on her guitar) like Jack and Raf would make me at least tolerate her.
But, to be honest, besides Agent Fowler and Silas, I'm just not invested in the human characters at all. I watch Transformers for giant robots, not humans... especially not the kids. So it's not just Miko; Jack and Raf get the same treatment at times.
"GET OFF THE SCREEN, I WANNA SEE ROBOTS DOING STUFF!"

well you may not like the archetype but how would you react to meeting giant sentient robots??? I'm the live in the moment type person myself. I'm an avid Equestrian no not my little pony I mean real horses and jumping over jumps equestrian. I take risks and also every time I get on my horse I could possibly get killed a small mistake while falling off a horse can be the difference between a bruise and possible broken bones. When I'm out and about I like to live wildly I take chances while riding that could kill me but you know what YOLO.

Well, as explained in the episode 'Grill'; the kids serve a purpose. It gives the Autobots 1.) a chance to understand humans and 2.) gives them a reason to fight. The kids presence makes them want to protect Earth and it's people. Namely the kids.
Cause if you remember, in 'Darkness Rising' part 1', after Cliffjumper was killed, the 'Bot's were not feeling particularly inclined to helping humanity. And given that they have to hide in plain sight and don't gt much in the ways of recognition from the humans who do know of them... well, it's understandable they would feel this way.
Plus, the impression I get is that, since the kids entered their lives, they are considerably happier.
But yeah, the human element has been a staple of the Transformers world and since they're stationed con Earth, it makes sense.

chibigingi In reply to LadySuzaku [2012-08-22 22:32:46 +0000 UTC]
It makes sense. Makes perfect sense. Doesn't mean I really like them, nor do I have to.
And don't get me started on "Grill". 2012 and we're still doing clip episodes? What a damn cop out THAT was; that pisses me off more than them cutting to hiatus on the same cliffhanger they showed in the episode before that. This isn't the 80's, or the 90's. 2012.
Anyway, I'll try to approach "Hurt" with a more tolerable approach towards Miko, but I'm really not going to get my hopes up. I understand the importance of having human characters and the kids, but that doesn't mean I want more episodes dedicated to them, when I'd simply rather see more of the Autobots and Decepticons. Catch my drift?

LadySuzaku In reply to chibigingi [2012-08-22 22:58:18 +0000 UTC]
Personally, I liked 'Grill'. It explained some things, answered questions and addressed Fowler's job and what he has to go through to ensure everything goes well for the 'Bot's. It also cleaned up the issue regarding Nemesis Prime and helped Fowler get the 'Bot's back into the governments good graces. But I can understand why people wouldn't like clip episodes.
Drift caught.

chibigingi In reply to LadySuzaku [2012-08-22 23:02:20 +0000 UTC]
Well, those parts you mentioned were necessary for the plot; I just don't see why they couldn't do it in an actual episode and not resort to reusing clips. That's more or less my issue; I guess it was a way to save money so that they could keep the budget under control, but still, just seems so lazy. Oh well, nothing's perfect.
