Errr... well after much deliberation, I added a bit to my old Squirtle pony. A lot of people were asking why she had no shell, so I finally just added one and a little bit of an underbelly for her. Hopefully this doesn't disapoint too many people who liked the original design D: Anyway... she'll be up on etsy in a few weeks.Original Design: [link]

I also meant the placement, so it looked right from the top and rear--it occurs to me that part of the challenge of sculpture-art is, of course, making it look amazing from all angles and not just in front of it....

In this one I think Ideally I'd have wanted the shell a little bit more towards the center of her back, but since I make it after the hair had already been baked in place, I had to have it a bit further back. Though really I don't think the result is bad, I like it

I thought you might have felt that way, since the shell as it now is has to be back on her haunches, but it actually works well the way it is, as you say!
Does the double-baking of a work when you alter it like this do any harm at all?

Not that I'd noticed here. This is the first time I'd done it with a pony. I baked Discord in two sets of bakings, and some of the ponys have been baked three times! It's a matter of getting the time down so you don't burn or melt or stress anything too much.

I don't mind! All the parts other than the toy base were made from Sculpey polymer clay. I made the curls by rolling up long flattened pieces

Totally okay! If you want to ever savea reply, when you click the reply button in your messages, at the bottom is a checkbox that says "delete this message after I reply" and you can uncheck that if you ever want to save a message!

Oh! The pony turned out great btw~<3 So happy with her. But I got oven-bake by mistake, so... I just can't touch her now. Or, like, ever. Heh.

Haha you can bake it, just bake it slowly! 10 min intervals, 275F.
