I did the bulk of this drawing over last weekend. During that weekend, I watched The Princess Diaries with my roommate, The Devil Wears Prada was on TV, Anne Hathaway hosted the Oscars with James Franco and appeared in several commercials for the event, and ads for Love and Other Drugs kept playing. SHE WAS EVERYWHERE. And this all happened AFTER I started the drawing. Strange.
Anyway, I wanted to do a pen & ink piece, because they are very relaxing for me and I very much needed to relax. I picked this picture, because I've always thought that stippling makes a sort of sparkly effect, and I thought it would work well on the diamonds. I'm not 100% satisfied with it, as it is rife with inaccuracies, but I'm still pleased and I enjoyed doing it.

very interesting to use stippling for shading in her skin. Leads to much contrast between her face and her smooth hair.

Thanks, that's what I was going for :] I thought about using hatching to distinguish it better from the jewelry, but it doesn't look soft enough to be skin to me haha.
