Description Name: Polaryce

Type: Psychic/Ice

It evolves from ______ starting at level 45. It is the final form of Cubbicle.

Physiology:

Polaryce are polar bear-like creatures that are purely white with a blue tint to its fur and have unique cyan markings on its face. The small icicles from its first evolution have grown into massive ice pillars that protrude from their backs right above the shoulder blades, as well as sprouting from the crown of its head and down along it's spine. Even the ears and chin have been overtaken by the ice crystals.

Underneath its fur is black skin that absorbs the energy of the sun and stores the heat in its layer of fat to stay warm during harsh winters.

No longer able to stand due to the massive weights of ice covering its back, Polaryce are completely quadrupedal creatures. However, this pokemon moves about unhindered and can surprisingly mow down its prey at speeds of 25 mph.

Gender Differences: Males are bigger and have larger ice pillars.

Special Abilities: Because of the ice towers on its back and its duel-type ice and psychic nature, Polaryce have the ability to control moisture in the air around them and turn the water vapor into a solid, liquid, or gas. Creating a mist helps it to evade oncoming attacks from its opponent as well as lower their accuracy, or a barrier to counter against and/or reduce damage or dampen the strength of its opponent's special moves.

Fire types have no real advantage against Polaryce or its other stages. Other types have 1x to 2x the effect on it, especially Dark, Bug, Rock, Ghost, or Steel types.

Behavior:

Polaryce are solitary hunters that will only search out others of it's kind in order to reproduce. Though it is not forced to hibernate, female Polaryce will sleep throughout the winter months high up in the mountains when caring for its young.
When their cubs are old enough to travel outside the den, the mother will travel down the mountain side with cubs en tow to find nourishment.

Trainers in possession of a Polaryce have a tough time gaining this pokemon's respect. Unless reared up since being a Cubbicle, Polaryce have a tendency to ignore their trainers most of the time.

Habitat:

Generally sticks to the ice cap mountains of the Monte region or the frozen tundra plains where their food grows or congregates. A few have been spotted as far down as the forests that line the mountain range at the base. Polaryce are unique to the Monte Region.

Diet:

Polaryce are omnivorous creatures that aren't really picky about what they eat due to their habitat. If they can, they will scavenge off of other kills to survive.

My eyes exploded. How did you make that fur? Did you make each strand of color, layer it with a few more shades of blue/purple/green, then shade?

The fur was all done on one layer and I just kept going over it with the brush with a low opacity.

I have this bad paranoia of screwing up the layer after too many strokes for the undo button to fix and then I'm stuck with a fucked up layer :I

It's better with multi layers, but I have a habit of working on the wrong layer. So just doing the fur on one layer was perfect for what I needed to do.

Some people just mess up more and need to compensate for it more I guess.

Why don't you make some fake pokemon as monsters for the game? They'd be absolutely perfect.

Because so far I've only made thirteen fakes and those have been a work in progress I just took forever to finish. But I'm sure if I come up with anything else, I'll be sure to run them by you. But so far I have a bunch of bird sketches that I've been working on.

Okay. I'm not pestering you, by the way. Offering suggestions is just one of the ways I try to be helpful. If you like, I can also run more detailed verbal descriptions by you if you ever want more specific inspiration. I think of things all the time.

You are far from pestering. Ideas are always welcome so just throw them at me. Don't worry about causing serious injury in case one hits me.

It's very cool... but for some reason all I can think of is an ice type Ninetails.
