Description Sorry to a few of my not-so-stamp-inclined watchers I realize I've been on a bit of rant with stamps lately, haha. This should be the last though for a while, I would think!

< rant >

Because it's just plain rude and obnoxious.

It goes both ways, of course. There's extremists and hate on both sides -- the religious and not religious. But really, it's extremely tiresome to find a nice piece of art with the topic of religion or no only to find someone attacking other commenters about their beliefs.

For instance: A person comments on a piece of art with religion as it's topic. They mention their beliefs, the creator responds, and they're having a convo about the religion or lack of. Then a new commentor leeches off and starts attacking one of them for what they believe in or not believe in, accusing them of things and just being outright obnoxious.

tl;dr: It's one thing to voice your opinion; it's another to be a complete ass about it.

< / rant >

Inspired by comments on my last stamp and what I've seen in the comments from recent religion / anti religion art works :V

C'mon people. Religious folk and non religious folk can get along. It's not that hard :'D If I, a sixteen year old Christian, can do it with my various wonderful friends of many beliefs or lack thereof, I'm sure the rest of ya'll can

EDIT: I realize that the stamp itself is rather broad, which is why I tried to be more specific in the artist's comments. There still seems to be some misunderstanding though, so I'll try to clear it up here.
I'm not saying that I discourage confronting people. I'm merely saying that I don't support outright attacking people. You're not going to win someone over by bursting in guns blazing and spitting out nasty things at them. All you're gonna do is make them think you're an ass. However, confronting a person in a civil manner is more likely to get them to listen to you.

EDIT2: I was wondering why I was getting constant faving, only to find that this stamp has gotten onto the second page of 24 hours Thanks! <3 [edit3: Thanks for front page on "deviantART related" for 24 hours as well ]

EDIT4: Featured~!

You know what they say, actions speak louder than words. I'm Christian and Im friends with people who are agnostic, atheist, even Catholic.
I don't even have a problem with Muslims who legit don't hurt people and keep to themselves. But I do have a problem with Muslims who use their religion to attack innocent people, because they don't believe in their God. That's a big NO NO. People can claim Islam is about peace all they want, but until I start seeing actual practices of peace coming from Islam, I wont believe them. Why do I bring Islam up? Because of the recent attack in New York they just had. And surprise, it was done by a radicalized Muslim.Β  =/

Ngl, I've literally never met a rude or aggressive Muslim. I've had classmates who were Muslim, friends who were Muslim, ran into people on the street who were Muslim, and all of them were perfectly peaceful and polite or really just fun to be around. One of my old friends is a Muslim, too, and we like to joke around about differences and similarities between our religions.Β

I'm not saying you in particular are doing this, but I think in general it's important not to judge an entire religion - whether it be Islam or another - based on what we see on TV or the bad apples that get the most attention. For instance, I hear A LOT about Westboro Baptist Church and white supremacists who use the Bible to promote their actions - have seen shit they've done, too - but I don't associate Christianity in general with those "factions". I view Islam similarly, I don't define it in general by the acts of the insane radicals. There's also the fact that a vast amount of practicing Muslims also openly denounce terrorism and ISIS's acts, too, so that's another thing to think about. :>

TakuraLion In reply to ChikitaWolf [2017-11-05 22:36:30 +0000 UTC]

Oh I've met nice Muslims too. Like I said I don't have a problem with those who just want to live peacefully, but honestly Muslims should be fighting to reform their religion. Not forcing it on others and threatening them with terror and death. Funny you say that because people judge Christianity ALL the time. Not to mention bash it. So it seems like it's ok to hate on Christianity, but it's some how phobic to hate on Islam. Right now why shouldn't we hate on Islam when it's basically being taught as a weapon and radicalizing young Muslims?

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

ChikitaWolf In reply to TakuraLion [2017-11-05 22:44:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, I agree. I've heard some Muslims comment that it's already happening, actually!

Bro, I'm Christian, I'm well-aware, LOL. I don't think that's really what's going on, though. Yes, Christianity does get bashed, but because it's a majority religion in this nation and the people who are Christians are far safer from persecution than Muslims, that's why "hating on" Islam can be seen as harsher. We may get "Bible fag" shouted at us and get belittled as "ignorant," but we don't have nearly as many people running up to us and ripping off our hijabs or screaming "terrorist" in our faces or warning their children away from us. This is why hating on any religion can be dangerous, because if the rhetoric becomes too inflamed it can put innocent people of that religion in danger.Β

So with that said, I don't agree with hating on a religion - I do agree with hating on the ones weaponizing it, the radical terror group waving it around as justification for awful deeds.Β

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

TakuraLion In reply to ChikitaWolf [2017-11-05 23:24:45 +0000 UTC]

How many people have actually ripped off hijabs and scream "terrorist!!"? You realize many of those stories have been proven to be fake hate crimes yes? If anything there might be a small number of assholes who do that. But it's not as big as people claim it to be. Muslims in America are not oppressed. If anything they use their Muslim privilege to get what they want or people face being called racist and phobic. Even though Islam and Muslims is NOT a race. Why they claim racism I'll never know. You don't have to be dark skinned to be Muslim. I've seen plenty of white people who have converted to Islam.Β

Not really in the mood for that can of worms discussion, sorry!

As for race,Β I'm not even sure where race came into it, and I've never had nor heard of any Muslim pull a race card before, so :'>

Yeah I don't know how race came into it either XD I think its the crazy SJWs who make everything about race are to blame. Its always "muh oppression" and "muh race" with them. Basically with SJWs its the oppression and victimhood Olympics with them. xD

You were fun to talk to too. It was nice having a debate without it resorting to name calling and other ridiculous crap haha.

It's really unfortunate tbh?? Like, sometimes I get a laugh out of radical behaviors, sure; but also, that radical behavior and hyperbole from those who don't even fully understand or aren't even part of the groups being marginalized really harms those who are actually suffering or facing problems that need to be addressed. It happens on both ends, too, (ex: Republicans demonized bc of the KKK supporting their party, even if most Republicans themselves don't support that group) which just makes the divide even worse when people aren't willing to look past the radicals to see those who are perfectly reasonable, even if they have differing opinions. :T //rambled a bit, sorry lol

I agree! It's rare to be able to do that, especially on deviantART lmao. It's often drama-llama central here.Β

Nobody "shoves" homosexuality in anyone's face. They simply want people who believe as you do to stop dehumanizing them, attacking them and even murdering them. Yes, murdering them. People even *suspected* of homosexuality get tortured and killed on our own soil by radical hate groups.

If you don't want to be "insulted" then don't go around telling people that they're lowly, evil filth for the way they are. No, it is not a choice. No evidence has ever demonstrated that it is a choice, and it certainly doesn't harm anyone either. You are in no way inconvenienced by the fact that two men or two women have a relationship anywhere.

It's also heavily debatable that it even is a sin. The bible spends just as much time calling it an "abomination" to eat certain foods like lobster or wear certain fabrics, and Christians don't show any concern for those things at all. Heck, Homosexuality isn't even in the ten commandments, but adultery is, so why are there anti-gay rallies in the streets but not vicious anti-sex-before-marriage rallies?

Leaders over the generations have simply used LGBT people as convenient scapegoats and distractions, just like they use other races or immigrants. Anyone different makes an easy target to unite people against a fake enemy.

Well, forcing someone to do something or believe something is not good on anyone's part. As for personal things like sexuality or another, I never nag them about it and support their love life or choices as long as they don't force it on me. I do support homosexuality as some friends or other people I know are Gay/Lesbian and support them as they are my friends.
