Description
After their whole adventure together the pirates take a liking to Charles and the Pirate Captain decides to invite him to join his crew. He rather likes the idea of staying with his new friends, as he's never really had any before, but he's not sure how effective he would be in that line of work.Just saw this movie recently and I was AMAZED by the animation! Makes me want to build my own stop-motion puppet.

Amy: He don't look like much, *looks over* welcome to the crew, eyebrows~! *Extends her hand rather abruptly*Β

Amelia: Hey, we gotta run, Cap'n, sometime today!Β
Captain: Oh, in a moment Meriwether! I'm showing Chuck around the ship.
Amelia: Well, don't make a mess-- *Hears a crash, turns back practically foaming at the mouth* What did I just say?!
Captain: Charles did it!
Amelia: *grips him down by his ear* A'ight what's the idea, trashin' the ship?!

'Pretty much make up the rest as we go' sure fits with pirates. This summer, I read a history book written in 1863 about pirates and I was surprised at just how generally inept and kinda funny the actually recorded 'adventures' of many real life pirates were. A lot of them were terrible people, but they made even worse brigands. But, just like the next guy, I prefer the 'lovable rogue' variety of pirate to the 'bloodthirsty thief' sort. Fortunately, I think Charles has got himself a pretty good offer here.

Captain: Come on, Chuck, being a pirate is easy! Ham, adventure, brass buckles, ham, and not to mention, *folds arms nonchalantly* You'd get a girlfriend.

Amelia: *She grins widely* Oh you're a friend of the Cap'n? Well by all means welcome aboard!~ *She extends her hand, taking notice of his flinch* What's wrong? Can't you talk? C'mon, I don't bite, *Tries a smile*

Meriwether: *Circles him* Seriously, Β Cap'n? Β You're recruiting this guy? C'mon, Β I used to take lunch money from dweebs like him. Β *Folds her arms and scowls up at the scientist* You think ya got what it takes? Well, do ya?!

"Um....no. no I don't. I don't know what he's talking about."

"That's great neither do we!" she grins up at him. "Amy Meriwether~"

"Say, you're kinda nerdy lookin'. You got a name, Cricket legs?" she asked, meaning well.

"U....Charles. and what's wrong with my legs?"

"Nothin' you just remind me of a cricket. Lanky, jumpy, and kinda cute"

"It's all the green. And you're all skittish. Kinda like a cricket." she replied, giving a light kick to his foot.

Meriwether: What's there to know? *She grins* Besides, being a pirate means adventure, and adventure means you're gonna be pretty popular with the ladies~Β

Captain: Amy, this is Charles Darwin. He's a scientist from London. Chuck, Β this is Amelia Meriwether. She's from Boston. Go on, say hello to the girl, lad.Β

The Pirates is currently on my top favorite movie list (if you couldn't tell from my gallery). Β I can't believe how underrated it is! Β It was hilarious, had lovable characters and a unique story. Β

There were some parts of this movie I enjoyed, but the movie wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Although visually speaking, I always like this style of stop-motion (usually done by Nick Park).
I think the main reason I went to see it was because David Tennant does the voice of Charles Darwin. lol
If there is a sequel to this movie, I hope they will work more on the story and character development.
