Decided to draw a hyperdrive fan character theRompinBlackCat created. He is the guitar playing, rock-loving son of Travis. The tattoos are actually alien tech given to him by a fellow musician. They are both an alien song database and a vocal enhancer.Related content

It was actually a thing given to Rory and is kind of intuitive.Β It will transfer only to someone who is both musically inclined and very close to Rory.Β Travis...doesn't fit the first bill.Β Β

Interesting. So one is likely born with some sort of chemical imbalance or mutation and the other learns or develops the behavior. Makes sense.
She's probably the latter.

I'd thought maybe abused by her parents or bulled, but that'd work too. If it was that case, maybe she felt that they left her because she wasn't smart enough.
I wonder though, why they'd leave her when the ship likely allowed children, or maybe they only allowed older kids and Rover wasn't supposed to have been born on the ship.Β
